Vampires are usually in caves. So I would do some adventuring and start checking some caves out!

If you are talking about dawnguard quests then go to dawnstar and at the far end of the docks there is a man there with a boat,you have to persuade him to take you to icewater jetty then you take the rowboat to the castle. Hope that helped
