Question for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I am doing the GOOD INTENTIONS quest for winterhold, and after I spoke to Augur of Dunlain, I went to explore the cave and I found a relic of a hand with a golden circle in the middle of it. I activated it and it doesn't do anything. Is it something important or is it something I should forget?

It's not really important but it can give you some treasure. There should be a key and journal on top of a table in the same room. After that you need to go to the Arcanaeum and look for the "Investigator's Chest." Use the key and take the rings inside. Head back to the room where the Daedraic Gauntlet is and place the rings on it. A Dremora should appear and you'll have to release him to get a treasure map from him. Killing him won't give you the map. The treasure will be under a statue of Talos, south of Ysgramor's Tomb on an island off the coast. Go to the statue and the treasure will appear beneath it.
