How do I fill my soul gems , I have the staff, but when I kill it dosent fill

You will need a Weapon with soul capture to land the killing blow and a soul gem that is the right CAPACITY starting from lowest: >Petty,Common,Greater,Grand (Largest)foxes,wolves,elk,deer,mudcrabs, saber cats, falmer are Petty/Commmon souls

>Trolls and medium sized creatures are Greater souls
>Mammoths giants and People are Grand souls

But people (black souls) require black soul gems or the refillable Black Star formthe Azuras star quest chosse either version of Azuras Star White souls are creatures only.

Enchant your weapon with soul trap (bows work great for this) but make sure it uses ONE charge per hit. If you stick that on a bow with a high enchanter skill you can pretty much use it forever if your archery skill is also high. I played for around 4 days without having to recharge it (enchanting/sneak/archery all at 100)

You have to have soul trap on a weapon a bow would be best. I hunt and it fills my gems if I use my soul trap bow. But make sure it only uses one charge per use. Good luck

You have to have the soul trap on your weapons or armor.
