Question for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I am stuck on the Mephala Shrine quest where you kill the two leaders(Ulfgar and Davalani or some name like that) I laid the incriminating evidence on each after the kills but now I can't get the people to question me and allow me to indicate that the leaders were fighting before they killed each other. Is there a special time to get them to fight with each other? How can I get them to go at each other since I have completed all the Shrine quests but this one. I want to get the ultimate one done so I have to finish this one.

I think you have to sleep in the inn for the night, then the innkeeper questions you in the morning, or you have to talk to her
