Question for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Well - I enjoy going into the plains of oblivion with tonnes of invisibility potions, killing, and collecting daedric armour.
Every now and then, the loading screen says "There are 16 daedric princes, each with their own plain of oblivion."

Can you kill these princes, or at least steal from them, or is it part of a quest?

Leprekorn answered:

As part of the main quest, you have to shut down an Oblivion gate outside each city, and there are also many in the wilderness after you finish Kvatch. So perhaps that means that there are 16 in total over Cyrdiil.

Cerberous answered:

The 16 daedric princes are the 16 daedric shrines in which some you can find a chest and steal from.the shrines are scattered all over cyrodil and some are very hard to find like Boethias shrine in the mountains

Cerberous answered:

You can't kill them cause the only time you see them is when theyre a statue, but Mehrunes Dagon the prince of Destruction comes out of oblivion at the end, I heard you can or you can just let the akkatosh dragon kill him either way is good but killing him yourself is very very very very hard and believe me. Good luck though
