Question for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I haye put items in a crate in the imperial city I done a quest in burma I went back 2 the crate and the items weren't there where are they ???????

If you don't own the crate they will dissapear after a while.

What I found is that if you put an item somewhere off to the side, it will never go away, not sure if that true but I dropped a pair of pant on day 1 and I'm on day 97 and it's still there. But yeah anything in a crate you don't own will dissapear. So if you've got a heavy item and no house just drop it down an ally way and maybe put a marker there for later.
