Question for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Is there a way to lose all your infamy like go to jail will that allow me to go into the church with the gods. Because since I stole a certain item in the game I can't go to the church and heal myself

Yes there is a way, you have to do quests for "good guilds" such as the fighters guild or mages guild. Thievs guild and Dark brotherhood will make you corrupt and not let you heal at churches, but you can balance out your good/evil by doing quests for all guilds.
