Help!

I did the quest for the ayleid statue collector and I had to find the last ayleid kings helmet. Well I was checking ruins before and I found the rival helmet not knowing what it was at the time and when the guy put it on he died. I want to know that if he had the right helmet would he have lived?

You uknowingly did the right thing, the motives of the collector isnt simply to "collect" ayleid artifacts, he secretly wishes to BECOME an ayleid king, id you would have given him the "right" helmet (nenalata) he would have trasnformed himself into an ayleid king, then becoming hostile and attacking you. You would then need to kill him and the skeletons in the tomb as well then loot his body maybe to retrieve the crown of nenalata. To answer your quesition : no, he would still have died, by your hands this time.....

SUPERMAN5 answered:

No. Actually you were unknowly did the right thing. I suggest to give him his crown so you can get some exp from killing him.
