If you have the guitar from the original rock band than yes you can use the old guitar but if not check on the guitar or the package and make sure it has compatibilty with rock band and guitar hero. you welcome
The standard Xbox 360 controller is used for the singing portion of the game. You must use each instruments controller type to play the particular instrument
Only with the singing, you need the instrament for their part
