The runway is at an angle so you have to come in not directly astern but at an angle. Plus when you touch down go into full afterburners just in case your hook dosn't snag a line.

The easiest way to land on an Aircraft Carrier is to unlock the F-35B. Once you get to area 7 which if I remember correctly is the Southern Oceanic. Once you unlock it do Sub-mission 7 (in Area 7) I suggest using the F-14 (because of the Phoenix Long Range Missile which is very usefull or the F-15 Eagle because it's a very good fighter. Once you complete it you get the F-35 JSF. You could also get the F-22 Rapter which is pretty good except the F-35 stealth systems are already activated while the rapter you must manually activate them and it doesn't have the STVL (Short Take Off and Vertical Landing) like the F-35. To get the Raptor you need to do Sub-Mission 10 in area 7 so you can either get the F-22 or the F-35 not both. I suggest the F-35 because it's slightly better than the Raptor in my opinion.
