Yes. Diamond Ore is found only in the bottom few layers of the map. It must be mined with an Iron or Diamond Pickaxe (possibly Gold as well, but not worth it). It is extremely rare. Every successfully mined Diamond Ore will drop one Diamond. It is always a good idea to mine the area around the ore first, for two main reasons: There may be lava nearby which can destroy the dropped Diamond or kill you, and sometimes veins of Diamond are at an angle and ore blocks may be hidden.

Diamond Ore is only found in the bottom 15 layers, and in veins of 1-10 blocks.

We'll I know that if you build 10 blocks EXACTLY there is a chance you'll might find them
ArtisticMonkey answered:

First I would make a lot of ladders, have a lot of Tnt, have 2 or 3 flint and steel,
Step 1. Make a ladder all the way down to bedrock.

Step 2. Mine a far tunnel away from the ladder.

Step 3. Make a room at the end of the tunnel. 5x5 would be recommended.

Step 4. Fill the room with Tnt.

Step 5. Light the Tnt and run as fast as you can away from that room.
Step 6. You may not hit diamond on your first try, so repeat if you want.
Step 7. Have fun.

TNT destroys roughly half of all blocks in the blast radius. The other half of blocks are dropped as if they were mined. Should diamond ore be in the blast radius, you may destroy the diamonds. It is best to explore caverns and mine.
KnockEmDead1996 answered:

You will only find Diamond in the bottom 15 layers of your world. Therefore you must do some really deep mining. If you lava in these bottoms 15 layers, there is a good chance diamond is somewhere really close to that lava. Just don't get yourself killed by going through lava.

Diamonds only spawn near lava so often because lava is most common in the same layers of the map. Finding lava will not guarentee finding Diamonds, likewise finding Diamonds will not guarentee finding lava. (Not a correction, just expanding the answer)

Use the seed: worstseedever and there is a little cave wen you spawn and you will find diamonds, gold, redstone, iron, coal and a very rare diamond. I have diamond on my world in minecraft on xbox. I mined diamond, gold, coal and iron from the little mine. Add me: Hunt3r Kill3r92 and I will take you to the diamond/gold mine

MasterReturnz answered:

Yes, go mining. The lower you go, the more you'll find. (Don't dig straight down)
