Cacti must be baked in a furnace to produce dye.

Flowers and Bones must be crafted into dye. Roses make red dye, dandelions make yellow dye, and bonemeal is the white dye.

Ink Sacs, Cacoa Beans, and Lapis Lazuli are dyes themselves (black, brown, and blue respectively).

All other dyes are made from combining the other dyes.

Dye crafting is found under the right most section of the crafting table's crafting interface.

Either press RB or LB until you get to the decoration section but if it's a "it wont let me" problem exit the crafting table then enter it again since if you have other players in the game it essensially lags from over repetetive action inputs[too much button pressing that the game jammes because of too many inputs the game cannot respond] you should get use to having the game lag jam and should save repetedly or set the "autosave interval" to 15-30 min Spoiler:

I think you must put each dye origin item in the furnace, with the exception of lapuz lazuli.
I hope this helps.

The only dye that is created with a furnace is Cactus Green (made from Cacti). Lime Green dye indirectly needs a furnace, because it needs green dye. Do NOT put any other dye ingredients into a furnace.
