I need dire help on halo 3

Look I love Halo. I've followed every game and now we are on the verge of the Halo movie and Halo Wars. I have a Xbox 360 and I have Halo 3, but don't have Xbox Live. I heard you can hook up your Xbox 360 to a wireless laptop that has wireless internet [everything in my house is wireless]. But I can't figure it out. I've gotten the IP adress and DNS comfirmed, but the MTU [or watever the next one is called] failed. Now I can't even get the IP address comfirmed. I need help because I don't have any of the new maps or anything. I need a step-by-step guide on how to do it like you would to a thirteen year old [I'm 13]. Sorry for posting this because I know it doesn't belong here but unless you have no other choice don't post any websites, for I am tired of looking at them.

I hate to admit it to you, but I had the same problem. Here's the answer: It can't be done. If you looked at xbox.com support it would show you that your xbox would need to be connected to either the modem or router directly, not an internet enabled pc. Your only option is to a)buy an xbox 360 wireless adapter, or b) if possible buy a long ethernet cable (cheap but annoying). I myself went with option b, because my computer's router is within 30 ft of my xbox. Hope this helps.
