It glitches all the time for me. Graphical Glitches, freezing, you name it.

But the gameplay is so amazing that I can ignore this issue a bit, and you should too.

As for weapons, when you first go to the wastes, at most in terms of weapons, you can have a 10mm pistol, a baseball bat, a police baton, and good ol' lefty and righty (Your fists). Not much, seeing as how the BB gun is basically useless. You'll want to get your hands on the Hunting Rifle ASAP. If you're lucky, when you come to Megaton (Follow the road when you first get out into the wastes and you'll see a big sign that says "MEGATON" and an arrow. Pretty straight forward, it looks like a big pile of metal from the outside) you can go to Craterside Supply. Now, if you're lucky, the owner will have a hunting rifle or two for sale, as well as some .32 caliber rounds. Also, talk to her about the vault suit she has. Answer a question about Vault Life for her (No wrong answers) and she'll give you the armored Vault 101 suit. If you accept her quest and get pointed towards the Super Duper Mart, there will be some raiders inside with a few having the SMG. This gun is a must have for early in the game. Later, make sure you pick up some assault rifles. Personally, I got for small guns and try to have one type of weapon for every type of ammo, other than a few. Here's what I wander the wastes with: Sniper Rifle, Xualong Assault Rifle (A special Chinese Assault Rifle. Regular Chinese Assault Rifles work fine if you can keep them in working order), Ol' Painless (The Special Version of the Hunting Rifle. Again, regular Hunting rifles work fine.), The Terrible Shotgun (Special Combat Shotgun, normal Combat Shotguns work.), Lincoln's Repeater (VERY special weapon. Can be found in the Museum of History if you're willing to fight some Feral Ghouls. A scoped .44 Magnum works here.), Shishkabob (Custom Melee weapon. Normal Melee weapons work.), Sydney's "Ultra" SMG (Special SMG. Normal SMGs work.), Dart Gun (Custom Weapon), and maybe a few odds and ends like the Deathclaw Gauntlet and some Frag Grenades. Just try to make a set with guns with different types of ammo and balanced distance (A good start is Hunting Rifle for long range, Assault Rifle for Medium to close, Combat Shotgun for Close, and 10mm Pistol or SMG for everything else.

Hope that helps.

There is one glitch thats really annoying. You could be walking, and all of a sudden blurry triangles will fill up the screen. If you look other ways it will disappear, but when you look back at where the triangle was, it'll appear again. I think the way I un-glitched it was to load up a saved game. If that didn't work then I just avoided that place. But you don't have to worry too much because it only happened to me like twice. As for the items you should get in the beginning, I would say laser pistol or rifle because they are good, but you can't get them until your far enough in the game I think. You could also stock up on some random crap, like fission batteries and lawn mower blades, because you use those to make the weapons. But only do that if you save Megaton because you get a house there so you could store all the crap. If you don't save Megaton then just get the items after you find the blueprints, or lug all the crap around with you.
