I don't think it is but maybe theres some sort of glitch to do that but nobodys really heard of it.

In mw2 there is a online game mode for 3rd person and in mw3 if you host a private game you can make it 3rd person in the settings

I found a way. But it might not help much. When you die and spectaye someone in third person view, then if the host of the switches out while you are spectating in third person mode, you will respawn in third person. Try it if you think I'm lying.
