Question for Assassin's Creed III

I've been playing this for a while, and right now I'm on the mission in the Frontier to stop messengers. I quit it at first, after several attempts, to play another game. I came there the next day, but when I cross the river, a GUI comes up in the middle, and the entire game freezes up. I wiped the disc, but it is still doing it, and I want to make sure it is not a problem with the disc/game. Please help! Thank you in advance!

Just get off and run around the river then hold RB and on the right go downtill you see a hores wisel wene you are on it let go of RB then click Y and the hores will come to you and you can contine the misson.

I thank you for your help, it actually got me through part of it, but unfortunately the GUI pops up at a different part now. It was not the horse that's the problem, it's the game freezing up. I just want to know whether it's a problem with the game or the save file or what, because I want to know whether it's a glitch or not or whether I need to return the game. The question is still open, everyone!
