Question for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

I have just killed Cesere. I am now playing as Desmond. I am stuck in an area of two rooms inside the colloseum I think, with a gate seperating them. I can climb up the side of the gate and then either use the path below to get to room 2, or the bars above. I can't find a way out or a checkpoint of some sort. Can you tell me what I must do because Like playing as Ezio but not Desmond!
