The first step in igniting a tower is to defeat the Borgia Captain associated with the tower. Once the Captain is defeated climb the
tower. Once at the top the Ignite option will be available on the display in the upper right corner of the screen. I always Synchronize the view point by standing on ledge associated with the tower before
burning it down.

what if you cant climb one of the towers?Guest answered:
for everyone else who reads this and it still doesnt work. the first tower doesnt work until you go back and talk to machiavelli first.

First of all, you have to kill the Captain. He will have a red marker over his head.
Then, climb to the top of the tower and Press B, and Ezio will burn it down.
