How to Get Off the Line Quickly
Getting a good launch off the line depends largely on the car you are using. The information below is tailored to whether you are driving a All Wheel Drive (AWD), Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) or Front Wheel Drive (FWD) car.
Note that it is always better to be using Manual transmission when seeking a fast getaway:
You can just thrash the throttle with an AWD car as the AWD will do all of the controlling for you - make sure you get the gear shifting correct and you'll be fine.
With these cars you should let the throttle hit the rev limited just a little bit as the race begins. Once you go into first gear, let go of the throttle and then hit it full on. Do this as quickly as possible to avoid any wheel spin. You should also come off the throttle slightly as you engage second gear so as not to spin your wheels then as well.
Use more revs than you do for the RWD, with as much throttle as you can. Change into second gear, if using a manual transmission, earlier than you would normally with a RWD car.
