modern warfare 2 review
Can infinity ward ace the fps genre again...yes it can.
Upon inserting modern warfare 2 into your 360's disc tray you would think it will be another predictable war game...you were wrong, modern warfare leaps and bounds ahead of your expectations, with amazing gameplay and graphics that would make your 360 purr in delight, an amazing storyline with traitors and plenty of plot twists to leave players shaken and stirred (for the right reasons) *SPOILER* it even goes to the limit in an undercover airport op with russians who pretty much gun down everyone in the airport then leaving the floor painted red, mw2 even has the same classic control system to boot.
With punchy set pieces to shotgun your senses. What's really unique is how infinity ward has come up with fresh ways of remixing the old formula. As mentioned the controls stay the same, even when your driving a snowmobile it feels like your used to it and it's been in the game forever...the rules of the game are never broken.it may seem like a harsh limitation but infinity ward has managed to include bouncing betties to deal with,a desperate escape from brazilian gang members whilst unarmed, a burning city destroyed by an e.m.p which you will need to get to a hotel with no electrical equipment thermal scopes, heartbeat sensors and laser sights included and not to mention two warring factions to fight through, listing them all would ruin the game but each mission demands something new of your battle worn abilities. Even when mw2 branches out and tries it's hand at breaching, stealth op's, hostage rescues and even an adrenaline fuelled snowmobile chase-which pushes away from the core guns 'n' explosives formula as it's possible to go without tearing the games seams-it still feels natural and familiar.part of this is due to the fact that the game is so polished you can see your own reflection in it (metaphor) apart from the easy and short campaign this game will sky rocket the 360 for many years to come. The online is awesome with new killstreaks and the much maligned martyrdom is now only available as a deathstreak, if you can put up with whiny kids excessive swearing then the online is great.
Captain Mactavish the best game on 360 is here 10/10
