[INTR] Introduction	//
//////////////////////////////////

NBA Jam 2004 is the best arcade-style basketball game ever made, hands down.
It is especially fun if you play with 1-2 friends on the same team.
Plus you get all of the amazing dialogue from the old-school Jam
games plus much more - all done by Tim Kitzrow - the same voice from
the original Jam games!

NBA Jam 2004 is a 3 on 3 arcade-style basketball game with official teams,
players, and courts, no fouls, no out-of-bounds, hotspots, and the ability to
get "on fire". You can also create your own character and team by buying stats
or players using Jam Points which are obtained from doing specific actions
in-game, winning games, and answering Trivia questions.
Players also earn Jam Points by winning Exhibition matches, and by playing in
and beating the Jam and Legends Tournaments.
Team rosters are accurate as of August 19th, 2003.
This game was also released for the PS2 but without online capability.

[PNTS] Jam Points	//
//////////////////////////////////

This section describes every known way to earn Jam Points. Jam Points are the
equivalent of in-game money which can be used to purchase:

	- Stat, height, and weight upgrades for your created player.
	- To buy legendary equipment such as headbands, knee pads,
	  shoes, jerseys, and more
which also upgrade your created player's stats.
 	- To buy players when making your own created team.
	- To unlock additional courts, cheats, and concept art.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* In-Game Points * You get these points while playing any type of game against
the CPU. Note that certain cheats will cancel all Jam
Points earned, mainly the cheats that affect gameplay like
constant fire, unlimited turbo, etc. Cheats that do not
affect gameplay still allow you to earn jam points such as
tournament mode, show shot %, big head mode, etc.

[JAMT]	Jam Tournament //
//////////////////////////////////

In this mode, you select a current NBA team to play all 29 NBA teams
(including the team your playing as) and 14 secret teams. This totals a
whopping 43 teams to defeat making it much longer than the Legends
Tournament.

Once you have defeated all 29 NBA teams you will earn 200,000 Jam Points
and must play 14 additional teams to win the tournament (and get an
additional 1,000,000 Jam Points). Also, defeating each secret team
unlocks them for use in exhibition mode and unlocks their players for use
in Create-a-Team.

Finally, there is no way to know how far you are through the 29 NBA
teams if you lose track, so try to keep a count going.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I have not posted the stats/players for each NBA Team because they are
easily viewed in-game.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Congratulations!
By defeating the current 29 NBA teams you have earned 200,000 Jam Points!
Now you must move on to challenge various all-star & secret teams to
continue the tournament.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The next group of teams you must face are a series of All-Star teams
composed of the current NBA players.

[LGND]	Legend's Tournament	//

In this mode, you select a current NBA team to take on all-star teams from
5 eras. There are a total of 24 teams to play in this mode, making it much
shorter than the Jam Tournament. Additionally, each team in this era has
only 4 players so injuring them as much as possible is very useful as they
can only substitute one player at half-time. Also, defeating each team
unlocks them for use in exhibition mode and unlocks their players for use
in Create a Team.

The first Era you will play in is the Pre-1970's Era and features
unique Pre-1970's commentary, music, arena, a black-and-white camera,

---------------------------------------+
	Unlockable Cheats |
---------------------------------------+
Purchase cheats to unlock them for Exhibition Mode. Note, purchasing
cheats here does not allow you to turn them on and off without the
button sequence, it simply reveals what the button sequence is for
each cheat. Also, since you can unlock most cheats by simply
doing the button sequence before a game, it is really silly to
waste jam points buying these. See the Cheats & Secrets section
on GameFaqs to view each cheat's button combination.

---------------------------------------+
	Unlockable Concept Art |
---------------------------------------+
Purchase original concept art to view. I would hold-off on buying
any of these until you have spent your jam points on everything else
that you want. Max out your created character's stats, make your own
legendary team, unlock all the equipment, and buy all of the arenas
before you spend money on this - unless you really like looking at
cartoon drawings.

There were two, XBOX-only teams that I know of which could only be

This team seems to be the substitutes for The Fright Team from the
Jam Tournament. I'm just guessing here, but I would venture to say
they already had these characters designed, but chose not to include
them in the original version of the game because all of the other
secret teams only had 3 players each.

[TIPS] Tips //
//////////////////////////////////
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are some helpful hints that can give you the advantage on the court:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Use your jam points to make a created-player and build up his stats to
all 20's and max-out his height before you start spending them on other
things. Trust me, once you have a maxed-out created-player, you
will earn so many more jam points in every game that you play then you
ever did by just using an NBA team's players.
This makes getting enough points to buy other stuff take no time at all.

2) Maxing-out your created-player's height is just as important as his
block stat when it comes to being a good shot-blocker. Being tall
also reduces the ability of opponents to block your shots. Weight is
also important, but maxing-out height is much more important.

3) When you are "on fire": you have unlimited turbo, all stats are boosted
significantly, and you can goaltend shots without penalty. Therefore,
it is recommended you only take 3 point shots with the player who is
"on fire" and if you aren't good at stealing the ball or blocking shots,
you can simply stand beneath the basket on defense, wait for the other
team to shoot, and goaltend the shot without penalty. Also, do not use
the "on fire" player for hotspots because being "on fire" only lasts for
5 made shots or one minute of being on fire (or the other team scores)
and since using the hotspot never misses, it is a waste to use up one of
the "on fire" player's five shots with it.

4) It takes 0.9 seconds to inbound the ball and get a shot off, any less
time on the clock and don't even bother because you won't get it off.

5) If you cause a shot clock violation (or suffer one yourself) the
other team (or your team) will lose all of the jam points in their
   jam meter.

6) If you goaltend a shot, you will give up the points but will remain
heating up, or on fire, or will keep your hotspot active if you
have activated it. Also, if the opposing team has a player that is
heating up and you goaltend his shot, he will not catch on fire but
will remain heating up, so be sure to do so when appropriate.

7) Hot spots are cancelled if the other team scores OR if they are not used
   within 30 seconds.

8) Injured players have diminished stats and regain turbo slower. Be sure to
substitute anyone in the yellow or red at half-time.

9) Be sure to push someone over after every basket scored by either team and
as much as possible. Not only do you get points for doing it (if you knock
over the guy who just scored or who has the ball), but it is also how you
injure players. And as just mentioned, injured players have diminished
stats and (usually) get substituted out for inferior players at half-time.

10) The best way to build up Jam Points is to focus on getting 50 point runs.
this is easy if you can get a 30 point run going because the 4000 jam
points you get for a 30 point run will fill the jam meter instantly which
should result in a 7 point hot spot, then you simply steal the ball and
make a 3 for the 40 point run. The 8000 jam points you get for the 40
point run will fill the jam meter instantly and you simply have to steal
the ball and make a 3 for the 50 point run. Then you should let the other
team score BEFORE using the hotspot you earned from the 50 point run so
that you can start over again working on another 50 point run. This is
because, unfortunately, the game does not give any jam points at all for
a 60 point run or more so you should just let them score after you get the
   50 point run.

11) Always turn on the "Show Shot %" cheat because it allows you to see what
chance (percent) each shot has of going in (note: it is NOT your team's
or player's shot percent for the game).

   * To enter the cheat simply press X then down at the enter cheats screen
   before each game. *

You can use this cheat to adjust
where you take shots from, especially three pointers, as you will notice
that you have to be pretty darn close to the three point line to have a
decent chance of making the shot, even if your 3 point skill is at 20.
Also, it shows how contesting shots affects the chance of it going in.
For example, a three point shot taken right on the line may have a 75%
chance of going in when it is taken uncontested, but if there is a
defender in your face the percentage will drop to maybe 45%. This cheat
still allows you to earn jam points because it does not affect gameplay.

[FAQS] FAQ's //
//////////////////////////////////

Q. Is this game forward-compatible with the XBOX 360?
A. No, unfortunately.

Q. What do you get for winning the Jam Tournament?
A. For winning the Jam Tournament you get 1,200,000 Jam Points and
you unlock each all-star & secret team for use in Exhibition Mode
   upon defeating them.

Q. What do you get for winning the Legends Tournament?
A. For winning the Legends Tournament you get 1,750,000 Jam Points and
you unlock each team for use in Exhibition Mode upon defeating
   them.

Q. Which Tournament should I play first?
A. It depends on your style of play and how good your created player is;
if you are heavily reliant on the 3-pointer, the pre-70s and 70s eras
will be tough because the teams are good and there is no 3 point shot.
If your created player is already very good you shouldn't have too much
trouble in either tournament. Regardless, the Legends Tournament has a
lot less teams to defeat and you get a lot more Jam Points for winning
it, so I would say try the Legends Tournament first.

Q. What is the max height and weight for a created-character?
A. 7'6", 350lbs.

Q. Can you use your created-team in the Jam Tournament or Legends
   Tournament?
A. No, unfortunately.

Q. Can you use your created-player in the Jam Tournament or Legends
   Tournament?
A. Yes! And you should as soon as he becomes decent.

Q. Can you do an alley-oop which involves more than 3 players
   (an alley-alley-alley-alley-oop)?
A. No, The High-Wire Act/Everybody's a Winner/The Full Monty/(Nasty Triple?)
involve the most number of players possible, which is three (you can
however have the same player go up twice).

Q. Can you have more than one player "on fire" at a time?
A. No.

Q. What is the most Jam Points you ever earned from a single game?
A. 118,250 without any cheats, against the CPU.

Q. What is the most points you have ever scored in a single game?
A. 274 without any cheats, against the CPU.

Q. What is the least number of points you have given up in a single game?
A. 8 without any cheats, against the CPU.

Q. Is it possible to use equipment to get your created player's stats
   to be over 20?
A. Yes, in fact it is possible to get some stats over 30 using the right
combination of equipment. For example my dunking stat is 31.

Q. Where the hell is Michael Jordan?
A. Good effing question. I don't know why Michael Jordan wasn't
included...he's only the best basketball player of all time. I'm guessing
he simply didn't sell the right to use his name/image to Acclaim.

I am looking for help with the following areas:
1) How do you perform a nasty-oop? Not being able to figure this out is
   driving me crazy!
2) Listing every trivia question and answer as well as how many jam
points they are worth (because some are worth more than 1000).
3) Listing every player's stats for the 29 NBA teams in the format
I have used for the Unlockable Teams.
4) Any more suggested FAQ's and answers.
5) Any other tips you might think will help people out.
6) Any corrections you have noticed other than spelling/grammar.

and playing it with me, a lot.
2) To Acclaim for making it, but they don't get much thanks since it's
now 2008 and there is still no sequel on the way.
3) To Tim Kitzrow for his awful...ly good dialogue and for sounding like
John Madden in the original sega games.
4) To whoever invented/coined the word "Boomshakalaka".
