Most of the time you'll be probably playing 2 because it is more appealing or at least I find it more appealing, this is my first FAQ. This my guide for Kasumi, the runaway shinobi and I will be talking about her in DOA2 since I don't really play the first one. You can also use ctrl+f to find what your looking for I put a * at the end of each one. e.g. Costumes* Name: Kasumi Nickname: The Kunoichi of Destiny (from the book) Nationality: Japanese Fighting Style: Mugen Tenshin Style Ninjustu Tenjin Mon Birthday: February 23 Age: N/A Height/Weight: 5' 2", 106lbs. Hiryu: U, K (H) Same as tenshu. Getsurin: U/B, K (H) Kasumi does a flip kick that knocks your opponent a bit away from you. Futenjin: U, P (H) Kasumi jumps and then jabs them in the face. Hitenjin: If your on the left side: L, P. right side: R, P (M) Kasumi spins around and jabs them in the midsection. Tenshin-Rengo: P,P,K,K,K (H)(M) Kasumi jabs the opponent twice and then kicks them three times if done correctly. Knocks opponent away farther then Getsurin. Tenshin-Renjin: P,P,K,D/F,K (H)(M) Kasumi punches twice, then kicks high then kick them around the stomach area. Tenshin-Renchi: P,P,K,D,K (H)(L) Same as the Tenshin- Renjin except instead of kicking around the stomach area she trips them. Ren-Kaio-Sentotsu: P,P,P,P (M) This is your basic assault of punches, which are aimed around the stomach area. For all those button mashers this is going to be one of those moves you'll be using a lot. Ren-Getsusai: P,P,U/B,K (M)(H) Kasumi hits the opponent twice and then does a back flip kick Renko-Rishu: P,P,U,P,K,K (M) Punches 3 times and then does a kick and then Kasumi does a really fast spin kick. Renko-Kyoshu: P,P,F,P,K,D,K (M)(L) Same as Renko-Rishu except instead of the spin kick she trips the opponent. Renko-Tenshu: P,P,F,P,F,K (M)(H) Kind of like the other 2 before this one except instead of a backflip kick she does a frontflip kick. Renko-Genraku: P,P,F,P,D,K (M) Exactly like Renko-Kyoshu except one less kick. Ren-Engestu: P,P,F,K,K (M) Two punches then Kasumi hits with her knee and then extends to a full kick. Ren-Getsuro: P,P,F,K,D,K (M)(L) Similar to Ren-Engestu but once again instead of a kick she trips them. Tenjin,Rengo: P,K,K,K (M)(H) What can I say she hits the opponent once and kick three times around the stomach area. Tenjin,Renjin: P,K,D/F,K (M)(H) She punches then kicks high around the face area and then another to the stomach area. Tenjin,Renchi: P,K,D,K (H)(L)(M) Once again similar to Tenjin,Renjin except Kasumi trips the opponent. The punch hits around the stomach area and then the kick up in the face area and then trips around the leg area so basically it's hit everywhere. Senko-Rishu: F,P,K,K (M) Kasumi elbows the opponent and then kicks them, then to add even more pain gives them her spin kick. Senko-Kyoshu: F,P,K,D,K (M)(L) As you've probably figured out it's the same as Senko-Rishu except you add the trip to the process. Senko-Tenshu: F,P,F,K (M)(H) Kasumi elbows them then does a hard flip kick that knocks them down. Senko-Genraku: F,P,D,K (M)(L) Kasumi elbows the opponent and them trips them. Kaio-Sentotsu: D/F,P,P (M) Kasumi jabs the opponent in the stomach twice. Kaio-Genraku: D/F,P,D,K (M)(L) Kasumi jabs the opponent in the stomach and then trips them. Rengo-Kyaku: K,K,K (H)(M) This is your basic assault of kicks. She kicks the opponent 3 times, spinning back and forth. Renjin-Kyaku: K,D/F,K (H)(M) Kasumi kicks her opponent in their face then kicks them in the stomach area. Renchi-Kyaku: K,D,K (H)(L) Kasumi kicks her opponent in their face and then trips them. Muei-Chishu: F,F,P,D,K (H)(L) She dashes at the opponent does a kind of uppercut jab and then trips them. Engestu-Shu: F,K,K (H)(L) She knees them in the face and then kicks them in the stomach. This is another decent knock away move. Getsuro-Shu: F,K,D,K (H)(L) Like the Engestu-Shu except then she trips them. So you could fool some of your opponents with her trip move, spin kick etc. Roga: F,F,K (L) She dashes to the opponent and then trips them. So it's like dashing and then when they think your going to hit them you trip them. Tsumuji: P+K (H) She does a spin jab. Pretty weak attack. Advise not to use it but it does stun them for like a few seconds and combined with the move below gives a nice knockaway. Shitten-Kyaku: RT,K (a.k.a F+K,K) (M) Kasumi does a strong kick and then another kick after. You'll most likely not get the second kick off unless they block. The first kick is powerful enough to knock them far away from you. Shitsuro-Kyaku: RT,D,K (M)(L) Kasumi does her powerful kick once again but then trips the opponent. Like the Shitten-Kyaku you'll most likely not get the trip on your opponent. Fukasen: D,RT (L) Does a spin kick which hits the thigh area. Sen-Kasumi: D/F,RT (H) She turns around then goes down and kicks up with one foot like she was break dancing or something. Kind of hard to explain but once you do the move you'll understand. Mugen-To: D/F,D/F,P (H) She does that uppercut jab and spins around. After that move Kasumi will turn her back to the opponent leaving her open for assault or a throw move but they will be stunned for a few seconds giving you the chance to move. Nagi: B,RT (H) Kasumi does a high spinning wheel kick which knocks the opponent down the ground. Pretty fast, good use for knocking down an opponent. Mai-Ogi: D/F,D/F,K (H) Kasumi does a handstand on one hand and extends her legs and hits the opponent in the face. Shiranami: B,K,K (H) She kicks the opponent in the face stunning them and then does a back flip kick knocking them down. Tenbu-Shu: U/F,P,K (H) Kasumi flips in the air rapidly spinning and the kicks them depending on where they are. It is useful when an opponent is knocked into the air and is coming down. Give them a little extra punishment. 4.2 Throws* I will not be talking about all the throws, I will only mention my favourite and the throw that is not done close to your opponent. Kasumi-Gaeshi: A Kegon-Enbu: F,A Tenro-Kyaku: B,A My personal favourite. Kasumi jumps on the opponent's knee and then onto their face rapidly kicking until their face reaches the ground. Adachi-Shizuka: When next to a wall, B,A Hien-Saka-Otoshi: U,A,;,B,A (TC) You have to use this move from a bit of distance away from your opponent. Kasumi jumps forward onto the person's shoulders, that's where you pause for like a second and the press back A. Then she flips them. Iabra-Kudaki: When next to a wall, F,F,A,D,A Oboro: D/F,D/F,A Rogaku-Syu: D,D/B,B,A Tsuzumi-Guruma: D,D/F,F,A Byakko: A (From back of opponent) Ura-Hien: U,A (From back of opponent) Hishu-Enbu: F,A (From back of opponent) Niji-Shibuki: D,A (Against crouching opponent) Hien-Shu: D/B,A (Against crouching opponent) 4.3 Holds* Kasumi-Kyoka: Against a high punch: U/B, X Kakinimi-Gari: Against a high kick: U/B, X Mugen-Shiraha: Against a middle punch: B, X Shigure-Mai: Against a middle kick: F, X Momiji-Otoshi: Against a low punch: D/B, X Soken-Gari: Against a low kick, D/B: X Mai-Goromo: Against a jumping punch: B, X Soken-Gari: Against a high or middle attack: F,U/B, X Mai-Goromo: Against a low attack: B, D/F, X 4.4 Down Attacks/ Special Moves* Takazume: When opponent is down U, P+K Kawara-Kudaki: When opponent is down D, Y Appeal-Sakura Matoi: B, F, B, X+P+K (X+P+K also is the black button) Uragake: U/B, P Tenbu: U/F, P 5.Strategies* Note: I only write these strategies from my experience so I am sorry if they don't help you. Vs. CPU Dead or Alive takes time, if you're new to this game you will have some trouble getting use to them. Once you figure out their style you should easily beat them with no help. Vs. Tina Tina is a wrestler. What do wrestlers do? Grapple. That's exactly what you don't want happening to because she has her combo throws which can be deadly but easy to get out. Though Leon and Bayman like to throw whenever they have the chance. IMO, Tina is more of an all around because her punches and kicks are decent. Be aggressive and it should be easy. Vs. Hayasbusa Avoid using punches a lot. The CPU controlled Hayabusa will counter you so many times with that spinning piledriver thing which can cause major damage at times. I have gotten so frustrated against him when I first starting playing DOA. Vs. Gen Fu I haven't really had much experience facing Gen Fu but,I can tell you that when I faced him he wasn't too aggressive and more of one of those patiently waiting people but that just might be me. He doesn't tend to grab you, he focuses on mid-ranged attacks. Vs. Bass IMHO, probably one of the easiest to fight. Bass may be big but he is slow. Using a fast character could easily win you the battle. If he charges or dives at you, you can easily dodge and go on the assault. Using a fast character makes the fight even easier but Bass is a deadly damage dealer when he's given the chance. Vs. Leon (or Bayman) I don't like facing these 2. Their throws are easy to stop but when they get them off they do more damage then you think. Leon and Bayman uses a 2-punch, kick combo quite frequently, be sure to reverse those moves. Their throws take off way too much so make sure you don't get yourself into that position. Vs. Jann Lee Jann Lee, well lets see he's the reincarnation of Bruce Lee can cause a lot of damage with his kicks. Most people are annoyed by him but, If you watch closely most of his moves can be reversed or simply dodged. I think it's called the dragon kick; can be dodged by just moving to the side. Jann Lee is all out agressive, so you need to be on your guard and you'll probably mess up while countering his kick because you'll be accustomed to using <-- + X. Vs. Kasumi Fast characters are probably the most annoying such as Kasumi, Haybusa etc. but being fast you tend to lack the power to do a lot of damage. Fighting yourself is also a good way to learn your moves and the tactics the CPU uses. Vs. Zack Zack likes to kick way more than he punches. I prefer to block his moves than counter them because I find that easier for myself but, that may be a different story for you. Vs. Ayane To tell you the truth, I have no antidote for Ayane, she's just an annoying purple haired girl to fight. I tend to stick with just pummeling her with punches and kicks. Other people have different ideas about how to handle her. They are siblings so she's going to do anything to beat you, lol. Vs. Helena Helena likes to go on the assault and will counter occasionally. When she goes on the assault be sure to counter her first strike. Helena should relatively be an easy fight though she can juggle pretty well. Vs. Lei Fang Lei Fang prefers to use kicks. There isn't much need to focus on her punches because you'll be focus on countering/parrying her kicks.Be sure to watch her high kicks, because that what she does best(yeah she can almost match up with Kasumi). On the Lei Fang faq by Echang you can see her combos if you want to know more. Vs. Hitomi (or Ein) Hitomi likes to hit around the middle to high area, kind of like Jann Lee's high kicks but not as much. She doesn't use many low attacks. Easy to counter her punches, doesn't really use kicks unless part of a combo. The CPU Hitomi I face are very aggressive and always on the attack. vs. Tengu (More of a reference to story mode) This is more of your skill vs. this cheap character. Some people go online and use Tengu just to get some free points easy. Don't rely on blocking too much cause he tends to grab you. You must be as aggressive but no crazily aggresive because he will counter you and you will pay big time. Tag Battle Mode Kasumi is paired up with Hayabusa in the game. That isn't a bad team but you need to be pretty good with Hayabusa to make it a good team. I actually don't think Kasumi is much of a team player, more of a solo fighter like her brother Hayate. If I had to team her up with someone it would be Ayane because first off all they're half-sisters even though the purple hair is kinda weird, and they are ninjas. They have 2 tag team moves which are pretty cool. Ayane is a good character but in my case, hard to master. Using Echang's guide for Ayane if you want. 6.Credit/Legal Stuff Legal Stuff: All I ask for you not to put it on your website unless you ask permission and give me credit for it of course and that you do not modify it.
