Question for X2: Wolverine's Revenge

In level 2, the part where you have to distract them what do you do after you distract them because every time I go down they find me and close the gates?

Please help, thanks

At the top of the stairs, enter steath mode and sneak attack the guard there, then just stay in steath mode and stealth strike the rest of the bad guys
