Question for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Hey, it's Reaver. On my morrowind game, I robbed some dude of every imperial steel armor piece except for the boots, this was in a house, not a shop, and I want it so that if I get caught doing something illegal, they won't take all the armor from me when they approach me to give me a fine. Can someone tell me if there's any way that I can do something so that it will still be in my inventory when they fine me? Please write back dudes, I wpuld greatly appreciate it.

When you steal the item, run and drop any stolen items you have the talk to the guards and pay your fine and go and pick up your items.

secv answered:

Drop it on the ground, right before the gaurds get to you, then when you get out of jail go pick it up.

The only way that I can think to stop your armour from counting as being stolen goods is to sell it then buy it back again. If you sell it at any normal store this will cost you a fair bit of gold, as you already would know (if you don't, it's because they will buy it for a low price and sell it for a high one). So instead of selling it to a normal store, sell it to the mudcrab or creeper. I'm not to sure where the Mudcrab is anymore (I moved him from his origional location), but Creeper can be found at Caldera, in the seccond story of the house with all the orcs in it.

I haven't actually tried this method, so it may not work (as the creeper and mudcrab may not count as proper mercahnts). There are two alternative ways around this problem - first, if you get caught pay the fine and then go to the nearest fort and steal back all your items (they will be in the "evidence chest" in the dungeon). But you have to be a good thief to pull this off (there are guards walking around there). You could also taunt and kill the guards when they attack you, so it is legal, and then you can loot the evidence chest in peace.

The second alternative is to resist arrest and run away (almsivi or diven intervention, or recall would work well here). Then go to Balmora and pay the guy at the thieves guild to remove the price on your head (I think you need to be a membver of the thieves guild). Remember to make sure no guards see you while you are on your way, otherwise they will try and stop you as well. There is also a glitch where you can remove your the price on your head at the thieves guild for free, which involves dropping your money or something, but I can't remember the details.

Probably the easiest way is to, like they said before, pay the bounty to the theives guild. Droping the item and running wont always work(if your in a shop, when you come back to pick it up it's considered stealing) and the glitch to get a bounty off for free is to drop all of your gold OUTSIDE OF THE CLUB then to pay off the theives guild, but since you have no gold it takes nothing, I don't think this works on the GOTY but I havent tried it in GOTY.
