Question for Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

On the level when you have to rescue the sixteen prisoners from the rancor, are you supposed to kill the rancor because when I was rescuing prisoners from the second cage, the rancor dropped dead after I was done attacking it

You don't have to kill it but if you do it will just respond in the center again.

It's best if you kill it the first time you run into it. The Rancor can't follow you out of the area where prisoners are. It WILL respawn, but you will only have to deal with it once more if you free the prisoners closest to the bar last (they will go through the center, where the Rancor spawns).
