Question for Red Dead Revolver

I know that there is a queston like this but I don't understand on chapter 13 the traitor, I shoot the canons but they don't work do I use the revolver mono de lois (something like that)

P.S. When you do the canon part on the left and right part of the screen there is a green and red canon which am I......

OK what you do is get his rifle out and click the right thumb sstick to activate the flare gun and then you shoot the canons and then your canons will shoot at the canon you shot. Have fun
