Date of Question: Dec 8 2004 | Question ID: 15957 Is there anyway to make those darn Drift Races any easier? Which car is the best for that? I'll do great at any other race but the Drift races are so complicated. There is no way I'm going to get over 175,000 points. Please Help.

I've got Four cars right now
1) Lexus IS300- I get around 135,000
2) Toyota Celica- Around 145,000
3) Mazda RX-8- Around 180,000
4) Audi TT- Get this......Around 235,000
And it may not even be the car, it could be the driver. Ever think of that????

Try to stay in front let a car up on your left side.
Turn into them alittel till your drift points start going up and try to stay at that angle for as long as you can.
Without letting them push you into a wall, keep doing that till the end of the race. And it dose'nt matter if you past the finish line or not.
You should win by 50.000 or more. As far as the best car front wheel drives work well for me.

The thing that works best for me is moving the left control stick back and forth from right to left.
I switch right or left just as I think the car is going out of control

I find that THE best way to rack up huge scores is to weave around, no mater where you are on the track. You don't need corners do get good scores. On straights drift from one side to the other on straights all the way down then use the corner at the end to finish off. When you get really good you can even carry it on afte the corner and it is possible to do it without breaking the drifting chain all the way round. Also if you use the hatched areas at the side then your points rack up real quick. But like everyone else who has answered has said, PRACTICE!

Instead of making small drifts everywhere, you should get speed on each little straight and make one big drift around a corner.
For regular drift races you should concentrate on the speed and angle of the drift. Also, if you drift near the edge of the track (near the walls), you'll earn bonus points (when the drift score turns orange). Looking at the map also helps because you can know beforehand how much speed you need to make a good drift through the turn. If you're way ahead (in drift points) you can also ram your opponents into the walls.
For downhill drifts, you shouldn't try to drift on the straights. Instead, get speed and make one big drift around a corner. Also if you drift near a passing car, you'll get extra points. It also helps if you concentrate on driving and not on the scores of the cpu's (you'll get distracted easily).

The Hondas are kinda good for drifting I think you should try that no matter how weak the stats are, Honda or Lancer or what ever its called.
Try one of those unless you are in the first or second city use what ever one otherwise use the Honda.

This is down hill drift right?
Well to be honest I actually achieved a wopping 120,000 drift in a souped up corsa 1.8 you know where the mansion is near the observatory ( on your map is a BIG left turn).
Go on to the drive way and slam a very hard left plus hand brake and let the car drift the whole drive way.. ( the faster you are and the sharper the drift angle) the more points you rack up.
You can also get good points by drift close to but not touching the othre cars.
To be positive I slaughtered the other racers as their highest was 110:000 and I got around 225:500 in total thanks to that 'drift king' drift.
If you mess up (and you Will as you need that turning very precise to get the highest points) restart and try again untill success smells as sweet as... well?
SUCCESS!

Hummer H2 is my favorite Drift Car, don't ask me why , but on average, I get about 250,000 points per race. It's all about the tuning, no matter what other people say, it's about the tuning.
