They probably won't but the covenant will probably sacrifice themselves to protect them!!!!

There is also a Covonant called an Honor Gaurd, wich is a type of Elite that is their primary defending and legal gaurdian.

This is how Covonants defend themselvs: Grunts defend eachother. Jakals defend each other and Grunts. Eleties defend each other, Jakals, and Grunts. Brutes defend each other, Eleties, Jakals, and Grunts. Honor Gaurds defend Phrophits. Hunters defend each other and everyone else.
