RE: Fable. No, not really. If you kill a shopowner/homeowner in a town and return later, they will still be gone. If you DO NOT buy the newly aquired property (within' 3 days), some new tennants will move into the old place and they will closely resemble the old tennants. You will not be able to purchase after that unless you kill the NEW tennants.
TRICK: Use magic. Slow time is the best. Get guards to chase you. (Have weapon out in a town with no weapons-out rule). Run into someones home you want to buy. Stand near the tennant(s). Block-Block-Block as the guards swing at you. Eventually the guards will clang off your sword and kill the occupant(s) of the home and it will become available for sale. This way you don't risk getting evil points for doing an evil thing. If the tennant closes the door on you, simply sledge-hammer it down with the sword. 1 - 2 wacks and you're in.
No they're dead. But after three game days new people will appear.
