Question for Crash Twinsanity

My question is on crash twin sanity how do you beat the level i think the name is (Doc Amok)? as it ses in the crash twinsaniy hand book, pg 8. I have not made it not far, i go to the bridge ware you have to stand on the plat form to raise the spike thing for neo cortex, but then he walks into a spike wall like thing can enyone help? I now at the end thers a thing you can spin but the thing is i dont think when you spin it dose enything. or dose it? And im just not doing it fast anuf or is ther faster way to get ther?
