To defeat the Zombie Boss Bears you need some patience and timing... Wait until the Bear stands up on it's hind legs before you shoot. Darien will then automatically aim at the chest of the bear. Make sure that is where you hit it otherwise you are just wasting your ammo.
The best way to get the bears to stand up is to stay relatively close, but watch out you don't get hit.
