During the last season if a player has retired : (You can put in 10 or more reserves to replace the retire players.)
Easy Wins
Put in Brisbane at the Gabba to play against any of the other teams under the easy/difficulty setting.
You should be unbeatable once you have done this!

You have 10 or so reserves that you can put in to replace retired players.
Easy Play:
Pick the easy difficulty and pick Brisbane at the Gabba and the play will be easy.
