How to resolve the IP address conflict of your Xbox console with another device

In case you have manually configured a static IP address in your console and you get an IP address conflict error, which means that one of the network devices is using the same IP address. The quick solution will be changing the static IP address assigned to your console or another device. A power cycle may be needed to flush out the current IP address table and to force the router to rebuild it. This will allow you to manually configure the device causing the conflicting IP address if needed.



Take note that when manually setting your Xbox 360’s static IP, make sure that you start above the DHCP range. This is basically the number of IP addresses the router has “reserved”. So for example, your router is 192.168.1.1 and your PC is 192.168.1.2, then you can choose the range from 192.168.1.3 above. For more information, you may want to consult networking forums or your router’s manufacturer’s website.

1. To perform a power cycle, turn off your console, router and modem.
2. Wait for 30 seconds then turn the modem on.
3. Wait for another minute or so until the modem connects to the internet
4. Turn your router on and wait until it boots up completely. This should take another minute.
5. Turn your console on and try connecting again.

Another solution you can try is to set all connected devices to the network and the router itself to use Dynamic IP addresses.
