SuperCheats new wiki for Mario Kart 8. Use the links above to share what you know for this game.

Introduction

Mario Kart 8 is the 10th installment in the Mario Kart series, & the 8th in the main series. It was released in May 2014 for the Wii U. Mario Kart 8 brings back bikes from Mario Kart Wii, & wheels, gliders, underwater & sky racing from Mario Kart 7. This Mario Kart also brings back coins, which can be collected during races to give players a speed boost. But the new feature Mario Kart 8 adds is the anti-gravity racing. Players can now race on walls, roofs & upside down during races, adding new element of fun to the Mario Kart series. If 2 players collide as they are both racing in anti-gravity, they will give each other a small speed boost.

Mario Kart 8 has very similar modes to the previous games in the series. VS Mode has made a return, letting players race on whichever tracks they want, when they want. Players can also change the race speed, computer player difficulty & items available. VS Mode's absence from Mario Kart 7 was a huge let down for fans, so the return has made fans happy.

Grand Prix & Time Trials are very similar to the previous games. Time Trials only has a slight improvement; you can now upload your records onto Miiverse for other players to see. But overall, Grand Prix & Time Trials are very similar to previously in Mario Kart 7 & Mario Kart Wii.

Mario Kart TV is a new feature added to the series. Players can now watch races they have previously raced in & edit them to find video that appeals to them. You can also watch other players' race videos & edit them (Update 2.0).

Battle Mode has been a huge let down in this Mario Kart game. There are no battle arenas. Instead, you race clockwise or anticlockwise around 8 tracks, trying to find people to attack. This makes Battle Mode quite difficult, & quite slow. It is not known whether battle arenas will be added in an update in the future, but we can only hope.

The online play of Mario Kart 8 is by far the stand out of the game. As in past games, players can earn racing points (also known as VR) as they win or lose races. In this game, it varies. In a racing group, if your VR is quire high compared to other players, you will receive less VR & lose more. If you have a relatively low VR compared to other racers, you will receive more VR & lose less. This helps add more fairness to the races. In online mode, you can also race with friends, previous opponents or race in tournaments. Overall the online play of Mario Kart 8 is really a stand out feature & helps make the game better.

Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U is a brilliant game which offers many unique modes of gameplay. Mario Kart 8 is the game that never stops, & will continue to speed ahead & get better & better.

(2 DCL packs are available for purchase. The 1st which includes 4 vehicles, 3 characters & 8 tracks will be playable in November of 2014. The 2nd, which also includes 4 vehicles, 3 characters & 8 tracks will be playable in May of 2015)
