1. Zombies that were killed stay dead for a while. So if you died in an area, but you took out a bunch of zombies along the way. Chances are there will be less zombies when you go to attempt retrieving your back pack.
2. Gear : Gear items, such as the lock pick, virucide shot,Upgrades to the pad, hammer and more all these "quest type " items you keep during your entire playthrough with one exception. The exception is survival mode. Even one death in survival mode will net all of your gear being lost.
3. Manholes, these are the fast travel stations of the If you die with one survivor the next one will still have access to these fast travel stations.
