-2... About Me [Abme]-
----------------------
Hi, my name is Xavier and I've just registered under the account of
elniguel on gamefaqs. I've always considered writing a FAQ, but never
gotten around to it, so I'll start with one of my favorite characters
around, Ganondorf. I hope you enjoy my guide!

-------------------
-3... Terms [Trms]-
-------------------
Everything here is the terms I use throughout the guide. If you are
reading and find a term you don't recognize, go here.

Lag- Wind-up lag and finishing lag, is when a move takes a while to start
up or after the move is finished you are left vulnerable. In both cases,
you are extremely vulnerable and can easily be hit.

Edgeguarding/Hogging- Edgeguarding is when you send an opponent off the
edge, and you stand on the edge so that he may be blocked and sent off
again. Edgehogging is when you grab the edge so that your opponent may
not, and are thus sent to their doom.

Abbreviations- When talking about all moves, I will use N, F, B, U, and
D- These being neutral, forward, backward, up, and down. All buttons used
in this guide refer to the GCN(gamecube) controller. FS, fs, or Fs are
all the same as final smash. NOTE! I have changed all my abbreviations to
the ones below for practical uses- moves that formerly were >/< are now
just F, still referring to B as well. Also, instead of two arrows for
smash moves, I will now just use a letter for the direction followed by
"smash".

Directional Influence- This is a fairly simple technique that most people
use without knowing the name of it- basically, its when you just push
yourself to the side in midair, rather than just falling straight down.
Usually used to get in position for a recovery after a second jump.

Tether- A select few characters have this unique move, some have it
instead of a recovery. What happens is that when the one tethering is
within distance of the edge(i.e., they have to be close enough to the edge
for the tether to be successful), they usually press Up, B, or Z(although
Sheik uses F-B), and if they're close enough, the end of they're
link/chain thingy will grab the edge. Afterwards, they can press U, Z, or
A and they will be pulled up to grab on to the edge. Keep in mind they are
vulnerable while hanging there and only have a bit of time(I believe it
is 7 seconds) before the chain loses its grip. They can jump up or use
another recovery or even use the tether again. Obviously this won't work
if someone else is on the edge, although since most tethers do damage,
they will probably be knocked off and both players will head down.
However, unlike in Super Smash Melee, the tether doesn't count as a
recovery unless you don't have another recovery move(like Olimar), so if
you miss you can use a different recovery. Tethers are not uniform in
length.

Recovery- Any move that makes it impossible to jump anymore in the air-
characters can as many as 4 and always have at least one.

Priority- When two characters attack each other at the exact same time,
one of two things will happen. 1- a little green circle with a dot in it
will appear and neither party will be hurt- this happens most with
swords. 2- one character will be hit and sent back, usually with the
other either taking much less damage and barely being set back or no
damage at all. Number two represents priority- the character less injured
had more priority and therefore succeeded in his move. Priority is
usually decided by the damage and knockback of the move.

Gliding- A new feature available exclusively to winged characters like
Pit. After jumping twice, you can hold X, Y, or up to move in the air
like with Meta Knights U-B, shuttle loop. It's my understanding you can
glide every two jumps.

Gimping- Basically, when you kill someone at really low damage(I guess
below 40%). Smaller characters like Olimar, Jigglypuff, and Meta Knight
have this happen to them rather often.

---------------------------------------------------
-4... About Ganondorf and How to Unlock him [Aguh]-
---------------------------------------------------
Ganondorf's first appearance was in the legend of zelda games, where he
appeared as the evil-doer. He then appeared as a playable character in
Super Smash Bros. Melee, and was the most overall powerful fighter, his
moves sometimes capping 30%. Now he appears again, once again the most
powerful fighter, and this time perhaps even more so. His appearance is
for the most part the same, although he appears to wear some sort of
armor now, taking on the appearance he had in The Legend of Zelda:
Twilight Princess. But remember, he's still good old Ganondorf. He wields
the element of darkness, and is one of the only ones with access to it.
He is, I suppose, renowned for this. If you see a "Darkness" sticker,
this is what it's talking about.

There are three ways to unlock Ganondorf-
1. Play 200+ brawl matches.
This is the good old fashion way that most
hard core veterans should go for, although thats not saying you have to.
2. With either Zelda/Sheik or Link, clear classic on hard.
This will probably take less time, but it's probably harder for anyone
who isn't good with any of these characters(I happen to be good with
Link so I unlocked him this way).
3. In the Subspace Emissary, toward the end of the subspace level, pick
up the Zelda and Link trophies. After you clear the level, there will be
a cut scene with Link and Zelda, and they will revive the Ganondorf
trophy. Luckily, he chooses to fight on your side this time.

*Keep in mind that with the first two methods, you will have to face
Ganondorf in a one-on-one brawl after the 200th match or after you clear
classic*

---------------------------
-5... Pros and Cons [Pscs]-
---------------------------
Pros:
-He's powerful!
-He has some decent recovery moves.
-He's the most powerful character!
-He has a meteor smash/spike.
-He's really powerful!
-He has a suicide smash.
Summary- He's powerful. But besides that, he can usually get back to the
stage, mainly because he's heavy so he won't get knocked quite as far.
Combined with the fact that if his U-B move shocks someone a recovery
move can be used again, he can be rather difficult to eliminate. Also,
getting back to the you can use another recovery, it's the perfect
opportunity to meteor smash or suicide smash an opponent.

Cons:
-He's large, so he can sometimes completely miss ducking or small
characters. Further more, he can sometimes be hit repeatedly for a lot of
damage(keep in mind that since he's heavy this won't impact as much). It
can cause his shield to not completely cover him also.
-He's slow.
-His plain jumps are sub-par, but not too bad
-Besides being slow, a few of his moves have a ton of wind-up or
finishing lag.
Summary- To be honest, if you took an average character, added Ganon's
power, then subtracted all that lack of speed, you could argue he was
right back to an average character. But not all of his moves are slow-
some come out lighting fast(surprise surprise). His jumps aren't
terrible, and since one of his really laggy moves can be started in the
air, it isn't all bad. Edgeguarding, anyone?

----------------------
-6... Move Set [Mvst]-
----------------------
Here is all moves Ganondorf has, from standard a to a rolling dodge.
Here's a little key thing-
#-# means it does from # to # damage, this is used in smash moves.
(#) means that it can some times do # damage. This is fairly common.
#/# is used in moves that attack twice, with the first # being the first
amount and the second being... the second.
Knockback is rated from 1-5, 1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest. All
knockback was recorded at 0%.

Button(s): A
Damage: 7(9)
Knockback: 2(2.5)
Move Element(if any): Electricity
Description: Ganondorf strikes the opponent with a fist of electricity.
This move does 7 if close to the opponent, but if you barely hit them you
will do 9. Unfortunately, no triple A combo for Ganondorf.

Button(s): F-A
Damage: 13
Knockback: 2
Move Element(if any): None
Description: As if dancing, Ganondorf strikes out with his foot. It has
pretty good range so use it to catch your opponent off guard when they
charge at you.

Button(s): Dash-A
Damage: 15(10)
Knockback: 1(backwards)
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf barrels to the enemy and nails them with his
shoulder. This move does 10 if the opponent is in the air when he hits
them, and 15 if they are on the ground. This move has some finishing lag,
and actually hits the opponent backwards a little bit, so it isn't really
that good except it does a decent damage. Can be used in a combo.

Button(s): U-A
Damage: 27
Knockback: 5
Move Element(if any): Fire, explosive
Description: Ganondorf does a vertical split, and somehow forms a wind
current a few feet in front of himself. Now, if someone steps in the
wind current, it becomes difficult to move/get out, and when enough time
has passed, he swings down his foot with so much power that the ground
where the current was explodes, sending anyone near enough flying. The
main problem with this move is it takes a while to charge up, and only
with precision can this move be successfully used. Since you can't even
charge it in midair, this move is just plain unwieldily. The only time
you really should ever use it is for edgeguarding, and only then when
either everyone is off the edge or its a 1-on-1 match. Most also say
that this move is the biggest difference between Ganondorf and Captain
Falcon.

Button(s): D-A
Damage: 12
Knockback: 1
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf looks as if he might be doing a breakdancing move
as he sweeps his leg beneath the opponent. This move does some moderate
damage, and can be used well in accordance with his F-B move, as after it
the opponent is left temporarily unconscious on the ground. Granted, your
opponent has to be off-guard so that they don't immediately attack you.
Overall this move could be used as a good combo move

*Smash Moves*

Button(s): Smash-A *or* F-C(no charge)
Damage: 24(25)-33(34)
Knockback: 3-5
Move Element(if any): Dark
Description: Ganondorf shoves his elbow into his opponents face... Some
ones going to have a bloody nose... But seriously, this move will
probably be one of your main KO moves. Easy to charge and wait for an
enemy to fall into your range- don't be afraid to let it go early even if
you couldn't get it to full charge though. Depending on if you're close
or are far, you'll do 24 or 25 to 33 or 34, depending on how long you
charge it of course.

Button(s): DSmash-A *or* D-C(no charge)
Damage: 5/14-7/19
Knockback: *With one kick(back)*: 2-3 *With 2*: 3-4
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf does a fairly wimpy kick... But wait! He follows
it up with another, this time a fairly powerful gut-buster! This is
another of Ganon's more graceful dance like moves... perhaps he does
ballet? Anyway, if the opponent doesn't know Ganondorf well, they may
assume that the move is over after the first kick, use this to your
advantage by charging when facing away from them and when they come up
behind you to take you out, let'm have it. It's interesting because most
down smash moves are really crappy and don't have any KO potential but
this one can more than pull it off. And in case you didn't take the
info in completely, the whole point of the first kick is to pull them
into the second kick. I suppose that it would be possible to attack with
just the first kick, but I don't know how. If someone has an idea, please
share, you will be given full credit. *Note*

Button(s): USmash-A *or* U-C(no charge)
Damage: 19-26
Knockback: 1-2(Up-ish)
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Another rather dance like move... Ganondorf thrusts his foot
in the air for a mighty kick. As far as USmash moves in general go, you
may consider Ganondorf's sub par just because it doesn't sweep(although
for a non sweeping attack it has fairly good range). However, it, like
other upward smashes, can be used quite commonly in both horizontal and
vertical KOs- see some strategies for it in the stage section. Anyway,
keep in mind that if, lets say, Ike is coming down from the heavens and
you nail him with this move, it won't do more damage, but it will send
him flying farther than if he was standing in front of you when you
kicked him- basically, the closer the enemy is to the tip of his foot
at the end of the attack, the more knockback. *Note*

*Note* While charging these moves, you will notice Ganondorf doing a
kind of tensing animation. What you also may notice is that the
animation for the moves mentioned are almost identical- this may seems
unimportant(and probably is for the less obligated smasher) but it is
actually a rather useful way to catch your opponent off guard(see the
Techniques and Combos guide).

*Aerial Moves*

I assume that you know how to jump for this section...

Button(s): A
Damage: 11/7
Knockback: 2/1
Move Element(if any): None
Description: A second double kicking move, this time without quite as
much promise as the first. After leaping in the air, Ganondorf thrusts
his right foot forward and then his left. Based on the damage, we can
assume that Ganondorf is, in fact, right footed. This move really isn't
that great, even for an aerial. I suppose that if you manage to hit with
both kicks it does decent damage, but there are other things you could do
that do at least as much. And since he falls fast, its kind of difficult
to get a direct hit, and you'll find yourself hitting your target with
only one kick(if any). His Fair is really much better, even if it does do
a little less damage, since this move has very little knockback.

Button(s): F-A
Damage: 17(15)
Knockback: 4(2)
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf does a nasty hook into his opponent that sends
them into tomorrow afternoon! This is another of Ganondorf's slower
moves, and it takes a split second of wind-up, but this is a very good
aerial move and can certainly be used as a KO move. However, Ganondorf's
position as well as your own timing is very important- if only his elbow
to hand hits, you'll do the full 17 damage and send your opponent flying.
But if his full arm comes in contact with the target, they will not be
sent nearly as far and only 15 damage will be dealt. When coming in to
finish the opponent this tidbit is actually fairly important.

Button(s): B-A
Damage: 16
Knockback: 3
Move Element(if any): None
Description: One of his more basic moves. Ganondorf suddenly twists in
midair and punches the opponent, and if it didn't do damage one might
think it his air dodge animation. There isn't much to say about this
move, it does fairly good damage, but since its knockback is mediocre it
should probably only be used to block an opponent coming at you from
behind.

Button(s): U-A
Damage: 13(12)
Knockback: 3
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf does a classic backflip, damaging the enemy with
his feet. Its a pretty basic move, the main thing you'll really use it
for is keeping the enemy in the air a little bit longer for whatever
reason, or knocking them out when they're really close to the edge of the
screen. Also, if you are farther away when you attack your opponent with
this, you will only do 12 rather than 13.

Button(s): D-A
Damage: 22(17)
Knockback: 5(5)-when on ground- 2(Up)
Move Element(if any): Electricity
Description: Ah, this is a move. Ganondorf stomps in the air- if you
miss, it won't look anything out of the ordinary... but if you come in
contact... hehe, then whoever is hit is sent rocketing downward! You
guessed it- a meteor smash/spike whichever you prefer. When your opponent
is just short of the edge don't be afraid to get in there, you'll still
have a recovery. But if they aren't going to make it anyway, don't be an
idiot. Oh, and this move does 17 damage not 22 if you are on the
upper-half of Ganon when you use it.

*Special Moves*

Button(s): B
Damage: 32(35)
Knockback: 5(5)
Move Element(if any): Dark
Description: Ganondorf rears back and unleashes the mighty Warlock Punch!
This move is what almost everyone will remember by at the end of the
day- it IS the most powerful move(unless you count those charging moves
like Ike's B). The thing that concerns most people about this move is
that it takes so long to wind-up. However, you can charge it in the air!
How great is that! But wait, there's more! If you tap in the opposite
direction that Ganondorf is facing right after pressing B, he'll turn
around and punch for even more power(even if it is only 3 damage)! Its
also good for edgeguarding.

Button(s): F-B
Damage: 9 (12)
Knockback: 0(0)
Move Element(if any): Dark
Description: After striking a quick pose, Ganondorf rushes forward and
grabs the target. Then he lifts them in the air and pumps a healthy dose
of darkness into them, causing them to faint- this then opens up a ton of
combo options(read about this in the Techniques section). But this move
has a twist- in the air, it does an extra 3 damage as well as having
completely different properties. Instead of lifting, he slams the
opponent to the ground with darkness pushing as hard as gravity. Here's
the twist- There doesn't have to be ground. Ganondorf is the proud owner
of a suicide smash, the thing that those one-on-one brawlers at final
destination with no items hate. The thing that surprises most people is
when they unwittingly unleash a SS when trying to recover with this move-
if an opponent is on the edge and Ganondorf comes in contact with them,
it will drag them both down. This can make someone edgeguarding furious,
especially if you are winning/have high(er) damage. However, if you
don't have either of these, or don't want to make your opponent mad,
don't use this as a recovery. IMPORTANT- if you use this near an edge,
you will fall off without even finishing the attack and unless hit in
midair you will die. Also, this move doesn't have knockback,
don't use it to KO(unless using a combo or something). *Recovery*

Button(s): U-B
Damage: 11 (7)
Knockback: 2 (1)
Move Element(if any): Electric (Dark)
Description: Ganondorf jumps in the air and does a twist, ending with his
fist doing a little swipe. Do I even need to say it? Anyway, this move
has some interesting stuff about it too. If, while using this move, you
happen to hit someone before that swipe, you'll grab on to them and pump
them with electricity, then leap away. At this point you can use any
recovery again, including this one, so it's invaluable when you and
another player are below the edge. Another interesting factoid would be
that if you hit the target with that little swipe, it will hit them with
some darkness instead, and do 4 less damage, as if Ganondorf is mad his
move didn't hit. *Recovery*

Button(s): D-B
Damage: 12 (10) (15) (14) (8)
Knockback: 2, or however far the kick goes if the opponent is caught at
the beginning.
Move Element(if any): Dark
Description: Ganondorf slams his foot down and does a sweet kick pretty
far forward. This moves damage varies a lot, so read carefully. First of
all, if you use it on the ground and hit your target in the first half of
the distance he covers, you will do the regular 12. If you hit them with
the second half, 10. In the air, its the same but with 15 and 14.
Finally, if you use the move in the air and hit the ground at the end and
your opponent is caught in the little darkness on the left and right of
the end, it will do 8. This move doesn't do much damage, and is kind of
hard to use well, as since he hovers over the ground he doesn't hit
someone that fainted. But, if used near a solid wall on the ground, when
you use it you will rebound into the air and do a fada! This can be used
to your advantage, how is up to you.

*Grabs*

Button(s): Z + Z/A
Damage: 2
Knockback: 0
Move Element(if any): None
Description: He bangs his knee into the opponent while grabbing them-
this move is purely for the sake of doing damage and annoying some one,
as you continue to hold them. Depending on the damage they have, you can
use this in different amounts. When you have only one grab attack left,
I highly recommend using one of the other grab moves instead, though.

Button(s): Z + F
Damage: 13
Knockback: 4
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf lets go of the opponent just long enough to punch
them forward. This is an extremely powerful grab, and you should use this
one just because of how much damage it does.

Button(s): Z + B
Damage: 10
Knockback: 2 (Back)
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf holds the opponent behind him and kicks them
backward. Fairly straightforward- still fairly powerful but 3 damage in a
grab is a lot.

Button(s): Z + U
Damage: 7
Knockback: 3 (U)
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf punches the opponent in the air. This is actually
an average power grab attack, almost a shame for Ganondorf
except it's wonderful for combos.

Button(s): Z + D
Damage: 7
Knockback: 2
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf throws the opponent in the dirt. Another average
power attack, with a few less combo options.

*Misc.*

Button(s): Edge- A *or* B
Damage: 10 (10)
Knockback: 3
Move Element(if any): None
Description: Ganondorf gets up off the edge and hooks the opponent- the
only use is edge recovery. However, if you have 100+ damage, the
animation will be different. You will get up more slowly and kick the
enemy rather than punch them. As for the knockback, don't get the wrong
idea. No matter how much damage your opponent has, they will always be
knocked the same distance by this move.

Button(s): Faint- A, B
Damage: 6, 6
Knockback: 3, 3
Move Element(if any): None, None
Description: There are two different animations for this too, but for the
first the button to press is A, and for the second, B. Keep in mind that
they do the same damage. #1- Ganondorf does a headstand and spins around,
hitting anyone caught by his outstretched legs. #2- Ganondorf does a
flippy thing and hits the target with his legs. Thanks to LinkElfice510
on this.

*Taunts*
How could I leave out those symbols of victory?

U(Control Pad)- Ganon levitates and spins around, then stretches himself
and laughs.

F(Control Pad)- Ganon punches his fists together, causing a bit of
darkness to come out. This all happens while his cape twitches, followed
by a chuckle.

D(Control Pad)- He pulls out a golden sword(Twilight Princess anyone?)
and it glitters. Then, darkness flashes down again instead of shining.

*Final Smash*

Beast Ganon
Button(s): B with smash ball
Damage: 10-10-45
Knockback: 0-0-5
Move Element(if any): Ground(1), Dark(3), and a new element- I will call
it Paralyzer(2).
Description: Ganondorf turns into... Ganon, a huge boar with curly orange
locks. Immediately after turning into Ganon, any enemies on the ground in
front of him are pounded into the ground by his transformation(10). Any
enemies in the air in his path(a straight line) are "paralyzed" in the
air by his pound after this, and will be stuck there until after the
final smash(10). Ganon then charges forward, hitting anyone in his path
with darkness and a ton of damage, sending them flying forward, and if
close to Ganon when the move begins, backwards(45). If sent backwards,
there is a little less chance of the target dying, but it is still
likely. Flat levels are perfect for this fs, and in general, Ganondorf's
final smash is considered one of the best in the game.

-----------------------
-7...Techniques [Tcnq]-
-----------------------
Here is a basic one:
F-B + D-A
This is a good start for several combos, or can be used in one like this.

When opponent is on ground-
Dair + USmash(charge till opponent is with range) + F-B + D-A +Fair

Another basic one is-
When on opponent is on ground- Dair + FSmash(charge till opponent is in
range).

If you have your own, please share. You will of course be given credit.

---------------------------------
-8...Character Strategies [Crss]-
---------------------------------
There's a lot, so you may want to use the search function like with the
TOC.

Mario- The average character. Everyone is compared to him, which makes
him a fairly commonly used character. However, even a skilled Mario
player can have trouble with Ganondorf, as it's easy to counter his
moves, meteor smash and suicide smash him, and in general own him. You
may find his D-B annoying just because you don't realize what's happening
until it's too late. His F-B is equally annoying as it can turn you
around(imagine how angry you would be if you pulled off a good Reverse
Warlock Punch).

Luigi- He's fairly similar to Mario except for a few distinct things I
don't really want to go over as they don't matter much. The main things
are that his F-B, D-B, and U-B are completely different. His U-B will
hit you much harder and inflict fire damage if used right next to you,
you can tell because you will hear the same sound as Jigglypuff's rest or
a home run bat. His F-B is like Pikachu's, he sends himself flying
sideways depending on how long he charges. This counts as a recovery. He
also has a chance to pretty much explode and send himself flying even
more than usual. His D-B is the same as Mario's Dair. Except for these
things, fight him as you would Mario.

Peach- Peach has a very special ability- for a short time, she can float.
As you may imagine, this can become tiresome when she keeps getting back
to the edge. It is for this reason you should meteor smash or suicide
smash her. She only has one long range attack(a turnup) which can
sometimes have extreme power- this is rare, so don't worry about this too
much. Also, the peach bomb can be deadly, you will recognize a large
heart breaking as she bumps you with her hip. Counter this by quickly
using F-B. You'll want to use special and aerial moves, as well as
grabs. Try not to use ground moves, as she can quickly counter them with
toad. However, should she put toad out, you will want to use F-B, as it
goes right through it(thanks to LinkElfice510 on this).

Bowser- Ah, a big character. However, Bowser is quite possibly even
slower than you, and also suffers power wise. He should be really easy to
beat, although his recovery is decent and you can't meteor smash him.
His fire can be annoying, but it also slowly gets smaller. And remember,
he also has a suicide smash! And if you do find him about to nail you,
get out of there. Just because you're more powerful doesn't mean he isn't
powerful at all, and especially his FSmash is really strong. Pretty much
anything works here.

Donkey Kong- He's big, and he has big range, big meteor smashes, and a
big horizontal recovery. Donkey Kong is one of the harder characters to
beat for Ganondorf. The best way to beat him is use your faster moves,
and catch him with meteor smashes. You can take the game to the air, but
be careful. Smash attacks will be hard to land with his huge range, so
your best bet is specials and actually grabs. Combos of course help too.

Diddy Kong- I find him to be extremely annoying. He has good recoveries,
drops bananas, can randomly grab on to your face and shoot a peanut at
you. All things said, his aerials and ground aren't that good, but I
don't recommend grabbing, as it will be hard to get close enough. His
popgun should be easy to dodge, he usually takes a while to charge it or
it goes in a big loop first. Since he's fast, you'll probably want to
move around a bit more than usual.

Yoshi- Ah, Yoshi. Previously the only one without recovery, now even he
has one. However, it still isn't that good and meteor smashes work here.
He actually can deal out damage really fast, so stay out of the air and
move around a lot on the ground. Grabbing will be difficult, as he has a
semi-long grab. Yoshi is one of the characters Ganondorf will have
trouble with, especially since his shield is a little more tempered and
can resist more punching. If you try though, you should win. Don't be
afraid to resort to "cheap" moves.

Wario- I find Wario extremely annoying too. Anyway, he's supposed to be a
heavy character, but is rather small and isn't that powerful. He also has
extremely bad jumps though, so he won't do much aerial to you. Your main
concern is the Wario Bike. Its great for recovery and to be blunt, it can
run you over. Once he falls off, don't throw it or destroy it, as unless
he's next to it he can't use it. He's really easy to beat on, and you
shouldn't find him too difficult. Use smash attacks often.

Link- Ganondorf's arch enemy, and there's no wonder why Ganondorf has
trouble with him. Between bombs, arrows, a boomerang that moves people
and items, a so-called 4th smash attack, a sword, and a tether, Ganondorf
is gonna have trouble. Try to stick to quicker moves, because although
Link is fast, he isn't that fast. However, try really hard to dodge, and
defiantly stay out from under him. One of his primary KO moves is his
Dair. His aerials are OK, and if anything are better than yours, so be
careful in the air as well. You can meteor smash if you want, but once
again, be careful. Grabs work pretty well here.

Zelda/Sheik- The thing here is that they can change, and while they
change, they are invincible. This can prove troublesome with your Fs, as
it only lasts a split second. Keep the timing in mind. Also, Zelda,
despite being rather light, has EXTREME power. I suppose it must be the
psychic-ness, but stay away with smash and aerials in generally, and be
careful with specials. You'll probably want to attack Sheik instead.
Sheik has basically no killing moves, and although she has a whip, which
can be used to tether, and throwing needles, her projectiles are sub par.
You can use smash, special, ground, and grabs but avoid aerials with
Sheik. You can meteor smash both, but be careful as they have really good
recoveries, and Sheik's can leave you free-falling.

LinkElfice510 says, "I would add the fact that Sheik's chain can rack up
damage in the Pseudo-AT "Mortal Chain": The chain keeps the opponent in
place (except for jumps) and while it does single digit damage a hit, the
hits come very rapidly in even faster succession.

Also, Ganon has a superior air game against Zelda (just avoid the F-air)
due to the fact that her spike is much harder to hit with, but overall a
behind approach is best due to F-air and U-air. A bottom approach is
recommended only above ground.

Lastly, Zelda and Sheik have a lag b/t their transformation (much to my
dismay). Sheik->Zelda lasts about a half a second longer, but you also
have about 2 or 3 seconds to charge up a smash while she is in the
"cocoon"."

Ganondorf- Ah, a one-on-one showdown with yourself. The main thing to
remember is that he has no things you don't. In this battle, it will be
mainly luck and how many annoying moves(U-B when right next to him,
suicide smash, F-B on the ground ect.) you use and how often he uses
them. Good luck!

Toon Link- Very, very similar to Link, except faster and more powerful.
If anything, use more air moves and smash moves, his projectile moves
are really easy to dodge. You should still use quick moves, but they
aren't as necessary because he is easy to counter and such. Specials work
well too.

Samus/Zero Suit Samus- Samus has lots of projectiles, one of which is
really strong. Her screw attack is also pretty annoying, as are the bombs
she randomly drops in the air. Since she can also cause explosions
everywhere on the ground and in the air, it will be a pretty tough fight.
Stick to aerials, but don't get directly below her as she has a meteor
smash. Also, she has a tether. You can use smash and ground attacks, but
be careful if they aren't fast. Don't grab, hers has more reach. As for
Zero Suit Samus, she has one projectile and a bunch of long range
attacks, not to mention a weird jump thing. Stay clear of her when she
can barely reach her, but you can get in her face. Unlike normal Samus,
she only has a tether to recover, although it's insanely long. Don't be
afraid to meteor smash. Grabs aren't recommended here either, but you
can use anything else.

Pit- This character has supreme recovering ability. Mainly, watch out for
his shield, it will turn you around and leave you very vulnerable. Also,
he can really go to town with those dagger things, make sure you watch
for when he starts to swing him. The best way to approach him is from
the air, it isn't that good (despite what you would think). On the ground
is cool too, but be a bit more careful as he can get you trapped easily.
His recovery is open, as it doesn't damage, so meteor smash him and Fair
him all you want. Also note his F-B move can get you stuck.

Ice Climbers- This team is light, but surprisingly powerful because of
duel hammers. You must kill the purple one(Nana, I think) for both of
them to die, if you kill the pink one(Popo) the main difference will be
much less damage done when hit and they cannot use their main recovery.
Use this to your advantage if the occasion appears. Also watch out for
their ice moves, sometimes the freeze you. Mainly, they are easy to kill
so just beat on them a little more defensively and try(but not too hard)
to separate them.

R.O.B.- A rather Wall-E resembling robot. Keep note of if he shoots his
laser, as he can save it up for the end of the match for a huge shot.
ALso, his gyrocopter things are annoying, watch for where he shoots them.
It's also worth noting he has a fantastic recovery, but it does no damage
so meteor smash him up. He has really good aerials, and decent ground
too, so you're stuck with dodging and sneaking in punches again.

Kirby- A rather small character with quick stubs that somehow carries
around a gigantic hammer. Watch for when he inhales, as he can copy your
Warlock Punch(which you don't want). He has good aerials, so stay out of
the air, but he doesn't have very good ground attacks, so beat him up
there. He has pretty good recovery, five jumps and a vertical, but he
practically has no horizontal recovery. Take advantage of this to meteor
smash him. Also, stay out from under him as he can turn into a rock and
land on you(I have no idea how the hell he does that). When he does, grab
him as he can do pretty much nothing about it.

Meta Knight- Meta Knight has the most recoveries in the game, a whopping
4. All of his specials count as recoveries, not to mention that he has 5
jumps and the ability to glide. However, similar to other flying
characters, he is very light and it would seems easy to KO... However,
his sword is insanely fast, and if he just holds down A his sword is a
flying tornado. The main way around this is to wait until there's an
opening in his attacks, or he's distracted fighting someone else. The
other good thing is that his attacks lack knockback, and with your weight
it should take a lot of damage to send you off-screen.

Kind Dedede- Another really big character, also really slow. His mallet,
however, is really big, and needless to say, can send even you flying.
He has an interesting recovery, carried by his momentum and virtually
invincible when he uses it. However, he can't grab the edge until he
presses Up and is rendered into Directional Influence. This is when to
meteor smash him. On the ground, use quick moves, as he has almost none.
Avoid grabs and aerials, as he doesn't jump that much and although he
doesn't have many good ones yours won't send him far. As for grabs, it's
pretty hard to get in his face close enough. Watch for when he throws a
Waddle Doo(a Black face) or a Gordo(a spiky ball thing) as they are hard
to disengage compared to the Waddle Dees.

Olimar- Good ol' Olimar. His pikmin are everything to him, and without
them I think he has like two attacks. He can't even recover! So, the
strategy is quite obviously separate him from his pikmin. He can have up
to six out at a time. Be careful though, because despite his
susceptibility to gimping, his pikmin can really pack a punch(his F-B
can do up to 48 damage). Smashes and aerials work well, as well as most
ground moves, but don't use too many grabs or specials, as he can easily
counter them.

Fox- Fox is pretty fast, and he is pretty good at recovering too, with no
opening for meteor smashing. However, he doesn't have much power, and
despite a quintuple kick for aerials and a triple A combo for ground, it
should be easy to land smash attacks. Mainly worry about dodging him,
don't let him rack up a ton of damage. Also, don't leave openings in your
own attacking as he can *quickly* take advantage of them.

Falco- Falco is pretty similar to Fox, but his v B is more offensive, not
that he'll be using it much as you have no projectiles. Falco is famous
for his jumps though, and can jump pretty high and attack from above. Use
your USmash to counter this. When he comes at you fast from the side,
nail him with FSmash or D-B. Also, his blaster does cause you to flinch
unlike Fox's.

Wolf- The one mistake almost everyone makes about Wolf is that he's the
same as Falco and Fox. These people could not be more wrong- all of his
specials are different, he's much heavier, and in general all of his
moves have no resemblance to team star fox. With Ganondorf, it will be an
easy fight because Wolf is also heavy, but without as much power, simply
meaning you'll have more priority.

Captain Falcon- Captain Falcon has a fairly similar move set to
Ganondorf, although U-A is much more different. The main difference is
that Captain Falcon is much faster and his moves do less damage. Even his
Falcon Punch(B) charges faster, but it does less damage. So the main idea
is to use your power to your advantage, hitting him with Standard A a lot
and following up with combos. Using F-B is helpful to start combos, but
remember to keep your guard up. And remember that Captain Falcon doesn't
have a Suicide Smash.

Pikachu- Pika pika! Don't ever get in the air above this guy, his thunder
move is brutal. As far as recovery goes, now his recovery damages so
meteor smashing is harder than before but still possible(remember it has
two separate lines). He's pretty fast, and it can be annoying to kill him
especially since for the most part aerials are off limits. His thunder
based smash attacks are really strong too. Your best bet is to use grabs
and smashes frequently, and use tons of combos. Even a good Ganon player
can have trouble with the (annoying) mouse pokemon.

Pokemon Trainer(Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard)- This is a harder character
just because you have to be ready to fight three different characters,
all with different traits. First off, I'll cover Squirtle. He has fairly
good recovery, and it can damage you pretty bad so don't go for meteor
smashing. However, he has very little attack power, and for a small
character he isn't that fast, so you can attack him with whatever you
like, though specials aren't really needed in your attack force. He has a
water move like Mario's v B too, so watch out for it. Next is Ivysaur. He
is unfortunate enough to have a tether for recovery, so meteor smash and
edgehog to your hearts content. He has better specials, and a really good
^^ A, so in general don't get above him, or below him as he has a
meteor smash. His aerials other than that aren't that good though, and
his ground moves aren't that good for the most part either, so aerial,
smash, ground and grab just as you would squirtle. Finally, Charizard.
I would say he is the hardest of the three since you're about the same
weight. Watch out for his fire breathing moves, and his rock smash
special is good too, as are his other ones. His smashes are OK, but yours
are better, so fight him on the ground as well as in the air, as his
aerials aren't that good. He does have five jumps and he can glide, so
his recovery overall is good, but his recovery move itself isn't that
great. It does do damage though, so no meteor smashing. Finally, for all
three when they switch pokemon and are in the pokeball for a bit they are
invincible, similar to Zelda/Sheik. Add this into your timing schemes.

Lucario- Lucario is another fighter bringing a new element to the table-
Aura. It is similar to darkness, but it has a very special ability. It
increases the power of his moves as Lucario's damage increases, I think
it stops at 183%(any info on this would be gratefully accepted). Any way,
Lucario has some interesting specials, including a large ball(like
Mewtwo's was) that can be charged up, an aura move similar to your F-B,
a counter(which your F-B can go through(thanks to LinkElfice510 on this),
and his recovery is very fast and he can curve it around. However, it
doesn't do damage, so meteor smash, but be careful as it happens quick.
Try to gimp him if possible, as his attacks are really wimpy when he
starts off at 0 damage. On the other hand, he's easier to KO when he has
high damage, so I guess that balances out. He also falls very slowly and
has fantastic range with nearly all his moves... In general, pretty much
anything will work here, just watch his damage percentage and be on
guard.

Jigglypuff- Jigglypuff is light as a feather and should be extremely
easy to KO. The main problem is her recovery, which is fantastic.
Edgehogging will make this part easy. Watch for her rest(D-B), it will
send you flying. Luckily, it has been powered down since melee. Smash
attacks are your friend here. Remember to watch for her rollout when you
have high damage, as it can send you flying horizontally, rendering it
impossible for you to recovery unless someone happens to be in range for
a few U-Bs(thanks to LinkElfice510 on this).

Marth- He's like a faster version of Link with no projectiles. His sword
does more damage at the end, so get in his face. This is also a good
idea since his sword has huge reach anyway. Don't be afraid to use
aerials, his are terrible. Watch for his fancy sword combos, they can
really mess you up. Once again, you want to use quick attacks. Keep in
mind he has a counter, although your F-B can go right through it(thanks
to LinkElfice510 on this).

Ike- Another big character, but he isn't as slow as the others... and he
has a sword. Ridiculous. Anyway, he has good horizontal recovery, and
great vertical recovery, but his diagonal recovery is nonexistent. You
may have to actually really play defensive with Ike because some of his
moves are as awesome as yours. If he holds his sword up in the air and
stands there get out of the way. Use your faster moves to take him off
guard like with F-B and then open up a combo. Also, Ike has a counter you
should watch for, although like all counters, your F-B can go right
through it.

Ness- This kid can be really annoying. Watch what you shoot at him item
wise as he has that shield thing... you can actually block his recovery
though, and it won't even be necessary to meteor smash him. All you have
to do is get hit by the blue missile. He has really strong grabs, so you
don't want to grab him, and his aerials are good too, so stay out of the
air. However, his ground and smash attacks are rather wimpy, so that is
how you'll want to attack. Watch out for his meteor smash and all of his
projectiles.

Lucas- Very similar to Ness, but you can't block his recovery the same
way, and since it is much more powerful, you won't want to even try
meteor smashing. His USmash is really powerful, so don't go directly
above him. He also has a lot of projectiles, and though they aren't as
damaging as Ness's, they are still annoying, so be ready to dodge.
Mainly, you'll want to use smash and ground attacks, as he has a
semi-long range grab.

Mr. Game and Watch- He's 2-d! Honestly, he isn't that hard as long as
you stay out from under him and don't do an aerial game. He has great
aerials, and can knock you hard even if you are Ganondorf. He isn't that
heavy though, so you shouldn't have much trouble. Also, watch for any
hammers, as some of them are extremely powerful. Stick to any and all
ground moves.

Snake- All about projectiles and explosives. He can only lay two bombs
at a time, so keep track of where they are and avoid stepping on them.
When he pulls out the guided missile, get in his face and nail him, it
takes a while to get out of the move. He has a fairly good recovery, so
It's easy to dodge Ganondorf's final smash, so time it right. Keep in
mind his triple a combo comes out really fast and has a lot of knockback.

Sonic- He's fast. This is the only problem, as Sonic is a glass ball,
even if his final smash is extremely annoying. The main thing will be to
counter his moves by charging and unleashing when he comes near. When he
turns into a ball back away no matter what. Another character you want
to smash and grab.

----------------------------
-9...Item Strategies [Imss]-
----------------------------
It is important to note that since some items have the same effects for
all people no matter how you use them(the best example being a capsule-
there won't be a way you can use this that others can't). Items like this
will not be mentioned here. If you think I should add it, please supply
an ample reason and I will add it here(blah blah credit blah).

Smash Ball: This, of course, will have completely different effects for
you, and there it also features a little sentence or two about how to get
it. First of all, since it will be in the air for the most part, you'll
be wanting to use... aerials. Anyway, by far the best move is your
Fair. It has a little wind-up lag, but it usually can nail and give you
the smash ball on the first punch. However, if it is moving quickly and
you know it will pass you, use your Bair, as although it doesn't have the
same effect, it will certainly help. Uair is good for when it is above
you, and Dair for below you. It is important to know that the Dair has so
much knockback and such it will break if you use it for 22%. As I have
mentioned, I once knocked the smash ball out of someone and got it for
myself in one Dair. As far as if its on the ground, you'll almost always
want to use either the standard A or FSmash, as they come out pretty
quick(if you don't need much power, Dash-A and F-A are also good
options). You can get lucky with your Dsmash, but it's rare. If you ever
find it above you, which you will pretty often, don't hesitate to Usmash.
Now, as far as when you have the smash ball, you'll want to get all your
opponents in a straight line directly in front of you. Also, watch for
anyone about to use transformation moves or recoveries to get out of the
way(reflectors and counters won't work). If it's lined up perfect,
unleash Ganon! This is why flat levels are good for Ganon's Fs(see more
about this in the next section). Also note that most throwing and
explosive items(as well as others) are good for this getting the smash
ball, and some are included here. Another thing you should try doing is
carefully eliminate enemies with higher damage to get "fresh meat" on the
board, so you don't waste your fs on someone with 200 damage.
Blast Box- This really shouldn't be in here, but there are a few
important things to keep in mind. Never use a powerful move by it, first
of all. Also, keep in mind that players with explosive options(like
Link's bombs) will use this item as a massive bomb. Also watch for other
explosive items that you can use(I'm not covering any of said items). I
guess you should just in general avoid it, as an unluckily placed
bomb-omb could end the match for you. Remember that for a moment after
leaving the angel platform, though, the opponent is invincible, and they
will probably use this to try and take your smash ball. Be very careful
not to let this happen.

Dragoon Parts- You may be wondering why this is here- and the reason is,
solely for how to get them. When these appear on the field, your first
priority is getting them, and then killing those who have them. When all
three parts are retrieved, this item has Fs properties. You have powerful
moves, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Food Items- I lumped them all into one group(this includes team healer).
Ignore food, you're big and don't need the help. Only get the maximum
tomatoes if you actually need it(fyi don't go for one when you have
150%+). As for heart containers, always go for them, as they almost
always either make a difference for you or it prevents someone who really
needs it from getting it(haha). As for team healers, ignore them unless
you have a team mate who needs it, and even then only if it's dire.

Mushrooms- Another lumped item. Always get the big one, the only thing
worse for a Jigglypuff than Ganondorf is giant Ganondorf. If someone else
gets it, its not a big deal unless its a big character, as they usually
end up your size(another haha). Obviously avoid the poison ones.

Metal Box- This is really annoying for your enemies, as you are even
heavier than usual. Stick to ground fighting when you have this item, and
stay away from the edge, as this can have very bad consequences.

Bunny Hood- Is there anything weirder than Ganondorf with bunny ears?
Yes, Ganondorf with bunny ears and a flower on his head, but thats beside
the point. This item is great as it makes Ganondorf's normally par
jumping much better, as well as faster(keep in mind your moves like
Warlock Punch won't charge faster, you'll just run faster).
Unfortunately, become lighter, so once again stay away from the edges.

Superspicy Curry- Ganondorf does run faster, and he is pretty much
invincible from the front, but remember to watch for counter and
reflector characters... The way you'll use this item is to slowly push
your opponent to an edge with your flames, then as they are caught in
midair by the curry, charge up a Warlock Punch. It is the same range as
the curry, so your opponent either ends up dead or extraordinarily lucky.

Timer- First off, if it backfires, or everyone is made slow, you were
already slow so it doesn't matter, and the second insures that everyone
is slow. Now, if the good stuff happens, bam! Warlock Punching time! Even
with everyone including you slow, since you're used to being pretty slow
you may even find yourself landing some big hits then too! This item
is very handy.

Lightning- Remember how I said how the only thing worse for Jigglypuff
than fighting Ganondorf is fighting giant Ganondorf? I lied, its being
small fighting Ganondorf. Now, keep in mind that this item seems to
backfire for me than it does work(if there is a reason for this, please
tell me, it's rather annoying V.V). So keep in mind this risk. However,
if it does work, you'll be able to destroy with even your dash attack,
sending little people to the heavens. Have fun!

Deku Nut- Awh yea! If it doesn't send them flying, it stuns them! Woooh,
HAAAAAH! Warlock Punching! Remember not to be too close to where you
throw it as sometimes you will get stunned too though...

Pitfall- Use this item for the same reason as the Deku Nut, to make your
opponent stuck getting owned by you.

Soccer Ball- This item is very, very hard to use well. However, it is
also very possible to accidentally nail someone. Basically, wait for some
one to be diagonal from you and hit it with your FSmash. In general, you
will use this item more by accident then on purpose though.

-10...Stage Strategies [Sgss]-
------------------------------
Like the Character Strategies section, you may want to use the stage name
to find a specific strategy. The stages are also in a-b-c order for your
convenience.

Battlefield- The three platforms are what you really need to focus on.
Like all characters Ganondorf is pretty vulnerable from below. Because of
this, you'll be wanting to stay on that lower level, and if you aren't
beating on someone there, try to use your USmash to hit someone on the
lower platforms, or U-B/Uair to catch someone standing on the top
platform. If you need to KO someone on the lower platforms, you defiantly
want to use Fair, and remember to hit from farther away. On the main
level, use lots of smashes and quick specials. Try using the edges to
lure someone into a meteor smash or a suicide smash.

Aiming Your FS- Try to stay at the end of the level that has the least
people on it, and stay as inconspicuous as a huge glowing person possibly
can. THen, when everything is lined up right, unleash your inner boar.
Standing on the medium platforms helps too, but only do this if there
isn't someone on the main platform. However, don't be afraid to
sacrifice a bad KO for a good one.
