Hello and welcome to my FAQ for LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias. If you are
anything like me, you will have been waiting an absolute age for this to come
out. A year and a half? Come on, Rockstar can pump out a GTA game in almost
that time. Anyway, whining aside this game is everything the first game was
and more, so at least I wasn't disappointed.

Hopefully (if you got stuck at any point) you used my FAQ for the first game.
This guide pretty much follows on in the same style. At least as well as I
can remember it, it does. This guide will be my 33rd guide published at
GameFAQs. Pretty good going huh?

That's about it really. I'll just have one more dig at Frontier (hopefully the
next installment won't take so long) and invite you to see my other works,
including a full LostWinds FAQ. Here:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/76852.html

Cheers, I hope you enjoy the game!

LostWinds is controlled by both the Wiimote and Nunchuck.

  W i i m o t e P o i n t e r

The pointer controls the Wind Cursor. Use this in conjunction with A or B to
manipulate items, enemies and Toku himself. Merely moving the Wind Cursor
will initiate a light breeze. Point the Wind Cursor at Spirit Charms to
collect them.

  D - P a d

Press up or down on the D-Pad to zoom the camera in and out.

  A B u t t o n

Use the A button to using various Wind Powers. e.g. you can hold A and move
the Wind Cursor to create a Gust. See the Wind Powers section below for a
full explanation of this. The A button is also used to select during menu
screen and to move text on.

  B B u t t o n

Use the B button in conjunction with the Wind Cursor to create a Slipstream.
B can also be used to cancel during menu screens.

  P l u s

Pause the game.

  M i n u s

If you press the Minus button, Enril will give you a hint that will help you
progress.

  C o n t r o l S t i c k

Move Toku around with this. Walk off of the edge of a platform to make Toku
jump.

  Z B u t t o n

This is the Action button. Use this to pick up items or to eat fruit and
vegetables. It can also be used to pull levers. The Jumberella Cape is
activated with Z.

  2 n d W i n d M o d e

If you connect an additional Wiimote, the second player can manipulate the
environment and collect Spirit Charms. This is very similar to Co-Star mode
in Mario Galaxy, where the second player collects Star Bits.

.----------------------------------------------------------------------------.
| W i n d P o w e r s |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'

  G u s t

Hold the A button and move the Wiimote in a direction. This will cause a large
gust of wind to move anything in it's path. Use this to make Toku jump, to
attack enemies or to move items such as Wind Stones around. You can use up to
three Gusts in a row to carry Toku. If you are just moving an item you can
use significantly more than this.

  S l o w D e s c e n t

When Toku falls from a height, quickly waggle the cursor over him. This will
slow his fall, making sure he is unharmed.

  S l i p s t r e a m

Hold B and move the Wiimote in a direction, much the same as the Gust. The
Slipstream works a little different though. You can trace a path that the
wind will follow. This can be useful for transporting fire, for using
Heli-Buds and the Jumbrella Cape.

  O l o u a S u i t

Not really a wind power as such, but it is a power-up or upgrade for Toku.
The Oloua Suit will allow Toku to freely move around in winter. This means
that you won't need to stay close to fire, like you have to at the start of
the game. The Oloua Suit will also allow you to walk up icy slopes without
falling down.

  C o l d C h i l l

During Winter, hold B down and pass the cursor over an enemy. This will cause
them to freeze solid. This works particularly well against Fire Glorbs.

  V o r t e x

Create a vortex around an airborne object to make it spin. It can then be used
as a powerful projectile. Use it on a Wind Stone to create a resonance that
can be used to open crystal doors.

  S n o w b a l l

If you create a Vortex in an area of falling snow, a snowball will be formed.
You can use this snowball to smash barriers or weigh down switches.

  C y c l o n e

Hold A and B then swirl the Wiimote back and forth. This will create a
Cyclone. Use this over Toku and he will be raised to the top of the Cyclone.
Basically it can be used for Toku to reach higher ground.

If you use a Cyclone over water it will create a cloud. You can now move this
cloud using a Gust. Gust downwards on the cloud to make it rain. Using this
method you can move water around or water plants. Both of these methods can
only be used after you've visited the Shrine of Twisting Wind.

Once you've been to the Shrine of Drilling Wind, you can use the Cyclone to
dig. When you see certain areas of stoney, soft earth it can be used. Summon
a Cyclone and gust down on it. The Cyclone will dig through the earth, giving
you access to the areas below.

  J u m b e r e l l a C a p e

The Jumberella Cape enables Toku to make use of slipstreams to glide a lot
higher than he could reach previously. Get some air by jumping or Gusting.
Whilst Toku is airborne, hold the Z button then hold B and draw a Slipstream
that Toku will get caught in. Release B and Toku will follow the path of the
slipstream. You can use up to three Slipstreams to gain air.

  M e l o d i a K i n g

Towards the end of the game you will find the Melodia King. He can be
manipulated using various wind powers. You can use a Slipstream to direct him
to a certain position. Once he reaches that place he will sit down. You can
make him sit down by Gusting down on him also.

To make him stand up again, simply Gust up on him. Whilst he is stood up he
will automatically follow Toku around. If you draw a Vortex around the King
he will let out a resonating song, just like the Wind Stones. Using this the
King can open crystal doors and operate elevators.

  F r u i t

Fruits are found hanging in certain places. Use Gust to bring it down from
its branch/string. Press Z to eat it. This will return Toku to full health.
These can also be used to break down wooden barriers.

  H e l i - B u d

Pick these plants and lift Toku into the air. Toku will fall a lot more slowly
whilst holding one of these. Toku can stay airborne for longer and gain more
height if he holds one of these and creates a Slipstream.

  M e l o d i a I d o l

The Melodia Idols are the basis of a side-quest in LostWinds. There are 48 of
these hidden around Summerfalls. They don't really do anything specific, they
are just there to be found.

  R o c k

This can be used to break down doors as well as weighing down switches. It is
pretty much what you would expect, a round, brown boulder.

  S e e d

If you burn a plant, it will regress into a seed. You can carry this seed and
plant it in the soil, where it will grow. Occasionally, it will only sprout
as a sapling. You will need to water it to make it grow into its full form.

  S p i r i t C h a r m

Collect Spirit Charms to gain an extra revive for Toku. If you move the Wind
Cursor on screen, the environment will receive a light breeze. Waggle the
cursor over bushes, plants and tress and you will find that Spirit Charms are
often released. Defeated enemies will also release Spirit Charms.

  W i n d S t o n e

A Wind Stones most basic use is to break barriers. Past this, you can use them
in a Vortex and they will create a resonating sound. This sound will react
with crystals that will in turn open doors or operate lifts.

.----------------------------------------------------------------------------.
| T o k u ' s H e a l t h |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'

Toku's health bar is located in the top right of the screen. It takes the form
of a heart. Each time Toku loses health, he will lose a quarter of the heart.
This means Toku can be hit 4 times before he needs to be revived.

Should Toku lose his heart entirely, he will use up a revive. You need to
frantically shake the Wind Cursor over Toku to revive him. If you don't do
this you will return to your last save point. The revive meter is located next
to the health bar. The maximum number of revives Toku can have at any one time
is 3.

You can top up your health by eating fruit. To earn extra revives, you must
collect Spirit Charms. These can be found floating around Mistralis. If you
move the Wind Cursor over the screen, it will send a light breeze over the
environment, shaking plants, bushes and trees. When this plant life is shaken,
they will release Spirit Charms. Each time you enter a new area it is a good
idea to shake the environment to gain these Charms. Defeated enemies will also
release Spirit Charms.

There are numerous things that will cause Toku harm.

Enemy attacks. If any enemy attacks Toku, he will be harmed. Sometimes even
touching an enemy can cause harm.

Falling from high up. If Toku falls from high up and isn't slowed down, he
  will be harmed on impact.

Rocks will harm Toku. If you are moving a rock and it lands on Toku's head,
he will likely lose some health.

.----------------------------------------------------------------------------.
| B a s i c G a m e p l a y |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'

Most of your wind powers are retained from the previous episode. However,
there are still a few to be learned in tutorials as the game progresses.
Most notibly the Jumbrella Cape is missing and must be rediscovered later
  on.

At the start of the game, don't move too far away from fire otherwise Toku
will begin to fade. This will cease to be a problem once you have the Oloua
  Suit.

Slipstream fires to set fire to stuff.

Use mushrooms to gain extra height. Gust down on them and Toku will bounce
  high into the air.

Gusting is the best way to cause Toku to jump.

Use Poyak plants to gain height. Wait until they eat Toku up, then Gust
  down on them.

Use Heli-Buds to gain more air by using Slipstreams.

Don't forget to wave the Wind Cursor over the environment to release Spirit
  Charms.

You don't need to collect the Melodia Idols, they are just a side-quest.
However, it's nice to have them for the sake of completion.

After visiting Sonte, you will be able to change the season from summer to
winter. Do this by using the bear-shaped Sonte Statues scattered around
  Summerfalls.

When the season changes, so will certain environmental effects. Water will
turn to ice in winter. Any snowfall that was there is winter will be gone
in summer. By melting or creating ice, you can help Toku progress or collect
  certain Melodia Idols.

Wooden barriers can be burned down using fire. Ice walls can be destroyed in
the same way. Changing to season to summer will also get rid of ice walls.

Thin walls can be broken by using Wind Stones, rocks or even enemies.

Some doors or elevators can only be operated using a Wind Stone. These types
of door will have a crystal nearby. Vortex the Wind Stone to make it
  resonate with the crystal.

Swimming is a new feature of WotM. It's fair easy to execute, you just need
to push the joystick in the direction you want to swim (e.g. to dive move
  the stick downwards).

Welcome to the walkthrough section. Though there are no actual "levels" in
this game, I tried to break things up into sections so that they are easy to
follow. Anyway, hopefully all this will be useful to you.

_____________ _____________

|______________________________________________________|

At the start of the game, you aren't actually controlling Toku. Instead you
have control of Riveren, who is one of the Melodias. However, later in the
game, you will find that he isn't all that he seems. Anyway, enough with the
teasers.

Speak to the nearest Melodia guy, then head to the right. Stand on the lift
and a tutorial will explain how to use it. Hold Z and Riveren will sing,
causing the lift to move up. At the top, walk to the right. You can speak to
the other people or ignore them.

Walk onto the wooden ramp. Make Riveren sing again and the ramp will tilt from
one side to the other. Once this is done, head to the left. Here you will come
to another lift. Sing and ride the lift upward.

Up here, walk to the right. You will come to a group of people. If you sing
for a while here, the giant Melodia head will rise and eventually, it will
sing too. This won't do anything now, but it will be very useful much later
on.

For now, just continue to the right. Ride the lift down, then take the one
next to it up. Go to the right and you will emerge on a new screen. Talk to
the Melodias outside the building and they will speak of Enril and how she has
been missing (see the first LostWinds).

Proceed to the right and leave the screen. Speak to the Melodia on the next
screen before moving past her(/him?). Here you will meet a few Glorbs. They
will be killed when Riveren sings. Once they are gone, stand on the thin
bridge nearby and it will collapse (again, first game anyone?).

Down here, go to the right and you will see a small item on the ground. Pick
it up (Z) and after a couple of words, this will end Riveren's section. Just
to clear things up, presumably Riveren gets cursed/possessed here. Kinda
confused me on the first play-through.

Now you get to play with Toku. A brief conversation involving Deo and Notea
and you will be good to go. Plot summary: Magdi (Toku's mother) is in some
sort of trouble according to a Journal Page that Notea found. She's twelve
days away on foot, but Magmok is here to lend a hand.

Magmok will take Toku a short way up the mountain before you assume control.
Once you have it, a tutorial will tell you how to use the Gust technique, in
case you forgot from the last time around. After this is done, head to the
right and fall down the cliff.

At the bottom, continue right and go up the stairs. Use the ledge to Gust into
Magmok's hand. He will drop Toku on a higher ledge. On here a tutorial will
take you through the Slow Descent Wind Power. Use it as you drop down to the
right.

Make your way over the pond and another tutorial will tell you about the
Slipstream power and watering plants. Water the Poyak sapling and it will grow
into a plant. Get into the plant, then Gust. This will send Toku shooting into
the air. Use this technique to get to the higher ground.

Allow Magmok to move the giant boulder from your path, then a tutorial will
remind you of the Vortex Wind Power. Once this has finished, use Vortex on the
rock to smash your way through the stone door. Now head off screen to the
right.

Drop down and head to the right. Follow the ledges upwards. You will come to
a mushroom. Gust downwards onto a mushroom and Toku will bounce off of it and
shoot into the air. Bounce off of the second mushroom, into Magmok's hand. He
will place you on another high ledge.

Up here, head over a couple of bridges before you reach a broken one. At this
point Magmok will throw you the rest of the way up the mountain.

You will now have reached the snowy part of the mountain (as you can probably
tell). As soon as you are here, the map will become available (just press -).
You will get a brief explanation before you can continue.

Head past the fire and Enril will explain that Toku will freeze if he moves
to far from them. Once Toku is out of the range of a fire, a gauge will appear
at the top of the screen. Once this gauge has drained, Toku will begin to lose
health, so try to move quickly between fires.

Gust onto the higher ledge, then follow the platforms upwards to reach the
next fire. Here you will find your first Melodia Statue. Use these to save
your progress. From here, Gust to the high platform on the right. Here, you
will find your first Melodia Idol (1).

Jump onto the platform to the right and a tutorial will explain the Snowball
Wind Power. Use a Snowball to break the frozen waterfall. You may see another
Melodia Idol frozen in the ice below. You can't get this Idol yet, so don't
even try. Head over to the right, past the torch. Exit the screen.

  S u m m e r f a l l s V i l l a g e

You will probably see a couple of different routes to take here, but for now
just head to the house to the right. Go into the house and you will meet
Smith. He will mark Melodia City on your map. He will also give you the
Lighter. This will allow you to light Beacons and create fire! Collect the
Melodia Idol (2) before leaving the house.

Outside, light the Beacon on the right. Create a Slipstream (B) between the
fire and the wooden gate. This will burn the gate down. Use the Melodia
Statue here. Next, slipstream between the Beacon and the unlit torch nearby.

From here you can burn down the next wooden gate. Gust up to the higher
ground. Head to the left and quickly climb the platforms before Toku freezes.
Up here you will find a Beacon (light it).

Gust onto the platform to the left and you will find a Journal Page (2). This
is the second page you have, this first being given to you by Notea. Up here
you will also see a curious bear statue. For the moment these are useless, but
later on they are essential.

Though you can probably collect at least one of the Melodia Idols here, you
should leave that until later (you'll find out why). For now, go back to the
Beacon and light the torch nearby with a slipstream. Use another slipstream to
break the ice gate. Leave the screen.

  T h e F a l l s

Go to the right and you will see one of the "Snow Monsters" that Smith
mentioned. It will make a quick escape. Don't bother chasing it, instead just
use the Melodia Statue here. To the right you will see another Melodia Idol
frozen in the water. Patience, it will be yours, but not yet.

Proceed to the right and climb the ledge here. To the left is a ledge with a
fruit hanging above it. Cue the "eating fruit restores health" tutorial.
Quickly light the Beacon on the left before Toku freezes to death.

Use the ledge to the left to get to the higher floor. A little way to the
right you will reach the next Beacon. Light it, then Gust to the ledge on the
left. Head up here and you will meet a Glorb. Quickly kill it (or ignore it)
before skipping across the platforms to the right and lighting the next
Beacon. You will probably be pressed for time but you should be okay.

Gust up the to the ledge on the left and light the Beacon here. Go to the
right and you will meet a Glorb. Throw it up in the air and a hard landing
should be enough to kill it. Gust up the frozen waterfall, then head to the
left. Here there is a Beacon.

Use the ledge to the right to get to the higher ground. Up here, you could
head to the left, but it's kinda risky, since there's no fire. I would suggest
a quick skirmish over to the left to collect the Journal Page (3). You can
probably achieve this with minimal health-loss. Now, go to the right. Light
the Beacon here, then head off-screen.

  S u m m e r f a l l s R a v i n e

Head to the right and you will come to a mushroom. Use it to bounce up to a
second one. From here, bounce again and you should reach a platform with a
Beacon on it. Use a slipstream to melt the ice gate to the left.

Here there is some fruit. There's also a wooden gate. You can head off-screen
here and you will head towards the Summerfalls Pass. This is not where you
need to be headed at the moment, so let's leave it for now. Get onto the
platform above the flaming torch.

There's probably a couple of Glorbs to deal with here. Once they are gone,
light the nearby Beacon. Head over the gap, the use the mushrooms to gain
altitude. After the last one, you will come to a Beacon. Light it and collect
the Melodia Idol (3) on the left.

Use the fire to break the ice barrier to the right, before Gusting across
there. Gust up to the higher ground and head to the left. Here you will find
a Journal Page (4). This is actually the third Page, but it will only be the
second one that you have collected unless you risked the cold to get the one
in The Falls.

Anyway, ignoring that, light the nearby Beacon. Enril will now spot Magdi's
crashed balloon nearby. A quick scene will show a watching Snow Monster being
chased away by a mysterious creature.

Once you are ready, light the torch with the fire, then burn down the wooden
gate. You are now free to leave this area.

  T h e G r e a t B r i d g e

Light the Beacon here. Slipstream fire to the unlit torch then collect the
Melodia Idol (4). Move the fire to the next torch and you will encounter a
couple of Fire Glorbs. A tutorial will take you through the Cold Chill Wind
Power. Use this to kill the Glorbs.

Light the next torch and collect the next Journal Page (5). Light the next
torch and then the Beacon as well. Exit the screen to the right.

  C i t y E n t r a n c e

Use the Melodia Idol, then use one torch to light the other. Continue lighting
the torches as you head to the right. Here you will find the entrance to
Melodia City. Unfortunately, it appears to be blocked by ice. Head back out
onto The Great Bridge.

  T h e G r e a t B r i d g e

Head back along the bridge and the "creature" will knock you off of it. This
will trigger a cut scene.

The scene involves Magdi as well as clearing up the identity of the "Snow
Monsters". More story stuff, then on with the game. Akumo will tell you that
you need to find Sonte. Her location will be marked on the map, which gives us
our next destination.

Once you regain control, head to the left and you will find a Melodia Idol (5)
on a high ledge. Now, head back over to the right and open the chest that
Akumo was talking about. Hold Z and Gust upward.

Inside the chest you will find the Oloua Suit. This will allow you to move
around in winter without worrying about freezing. This means the end of
lighting Beacons. You will also be able to walk up slippery slopes.

As soon as you are ready, leave to the right.

  O l o u a V i l l a g e

As soon as you are out here, hit the Melodia Statue. Gust down on the drum to
reach the higher platform. If you Gust down, then use a lot of Gusts to go to
the left, you will reach a Melodia Idol (6) that's just sat on a small ledge.
Go back to the right and at this point you will be shown a Glorb Pool as well
as a Water Glorb. Behind them, there is a camp fire. Use a slipstream to burn
both the pool and the Glorb.

Continue to the right and the path will fork. Take the upper path along the
platforms. Here you will meet a couple of Fire Glorbs. Use Cold Chill on them,
before heading off screen to the right.

  O l o u a G l e n

As soon as you enter this area you will encounter a Glorb Pool. Burn it down
with the nearby fire. There are other Glorb Pools on the higher ledges. Burn
these down too. Once all the pools and Glorbs have gone, the Oloua who is
stood close by will talk to you.

He will mention something about digging down here. This can't be done yet, but
remember this for later. For now, collect the Melodia Idol (7) in the top left
hand part of the Glen before leaving the way you came in.

  O l o u a V i l l a g e

Head to the left and drop down the gap. Here you will see a Melodia Idol (8)
sat on a platform. Follow the path to the left and then downwards. Go past
the Oloua and exit the screen.

  C r y s t a l C a v e r n

Do a big Gust over to the right to find a Melodia Idol (9) on the ledge here.
Drop down the cliff here. At the bottom you will see a switch. Stand on it and
the door to the right will open. Unforunately, as soon as you step off of the
switch, the door closes. Use the Snowball Power to make a snowball. Drop the
snowball onto the switch to weigh it down. Now head through the door.

There are a couple of Water Glorbs here. Use Cold Chill to freeze them until
you can light the Beacon on the right. Once you have done this, you can burn
them up with fire.

Light to torch to the left, then burn down the wooden gate nearby. Drop down
the cliff here. At the bottom, create a snowball and smash the ice barrier to
the right. Follow the ledges up here and you will see a lever on the left.
This is behind an ice barrier that you can't break at the moment.

Proceed to the right and pull the lever up here. This will open the trap door
to the left and allow snow to fall next to the ice barrier. Head over there
and break the barrier with a snowball. You are now free to pull the lever.

This will open a door further to the left. Go through the door and deal with
the Fire Glorb. Head to the left and use the drum to gain height. Up here, you
can pull the lever and collect the Journal Page (6).

Head back down the way that you came. The lever will have opened a trap door
above a switch. This will allow you to create a snowball and weigh the switch
down with it. This will open the door to the right and you will be free to
move onto Echo Cavern.

  E c h o C a v e r n

Go down the slope and kill the Glorbs at the bottom. There is a closed door on
the right. As the camera pans out you will see a switch behind the door.
Create a snowball and weigh the switch down with it. Now pass through the
door.

Make another snowball and break the ice barrier on the right with it. Follow
the ledges upwards, then break the two ice barriers on the higher platforms
using more snowballs. Gust across the gap and you will come to another switch.
Hold it down with a snowball. This will light a lantern further back in the
area.

Quickly get down to the lantern and light the torch on the left. Now, burn the
wooden gate with the fire. This will reveal a rock and a Melodia Idol (10).
Place the rock on the switch just to the left. This will open the door. Now,
use a slipstream to light the torch behind the door.

Once you have done this, go through the door. Break the ice gate using the
fire. Now head to the left. Follow the path down and use the first Melodia
Statue in ages.

Go down the slope and you will see a lot of Fire Glorbs. Use Vortex on one of
them and shoot it at the wooden barrier. This should burn it down, allowing
you to leave Echo Cavern.

  T h e F a l l s

You will now be back at The Falls. Break the ice with the fire. Follow the
platforms up and if you didn't already get them, you can get a Melodia Idol
(11) on the right and the third Journal Page from the left. Once you are at
the top of these platforms, you will be at the top-most area of The Falls.

Up here, head to the right before dropping down the cliff. Keep heading down
until you reach a bridge of the right hand side. Burn up the Water Glorbs,
then head over the bridge. You will see a Melodia Idol on the way over. You
can't get this yet, but don't forget about it, because there are two very
close together. For now, head off screen to the right.

  G r e e n L a k e

Head to the right and light the Beacon here. Collect the Journal Page (7) from
the raised platform on the left. Use fire to take out the Water Glorbs. Next,
make your way over the platforms and use a slipsteam to burn up the wooden
gate.

Head to the right and you will need to drop down here. Use Cold Chill on the
Fire Glorbs. As you proceed to the right, you may see a Scorpio emerge out of
the ground. The best thing to do here is just avoid it. Gust over it and
follow the ledges upwards.

There's a switch here. Weigh it down with a snowball and this will open up a
door below. Head through the door and as you do, you should collect a
Melodia Idol (12).

Once through the door, light the nearby Beacon. Use it to light the torch on
the upper path. From this torch you can light another and from that you can
burn down a wooden gate on the left. You can now go back to the lower path
and use the Melodia Statue. Head off screen to the right.

  S o n t e ' s C a v e

Head to the right and listen to what Enril says about the bell. First of all,
you should collect the Melodia Idol (13). Now, create a snowball and smash it
into the bell. This will wake up Sonte.

The conversation with Sonte will result in you being able to change the season
from summer to winter and back again. However, before you can do this, you
will have to fix the clanger in the bell, which you broke with the snowball
(dumbass).

For now, Sonte will change the season to summer and you must find a way of
fixing the bell clanger. Smith can do this for you in Summerfalls Village, so
you should head back there. Go back into Green Lake.

Since the door here as closed, you should take the upper route. Light the
Beacon and move the fire along the torches. If you already burned down the
barrier, you should do this anyway because you can use fire to kill the
Kalarab.

Continue to the left and recover a Melodia Idol (14) from the bottom of the
lake. Watch out for the Squawks (just knock them about a bit to kill them)
and use the Heli-Bud to gain height. If you can remember this from the first
game, you can use a slipstream to guide the Heli-Bud.

Head over to the left and take the short-cut under the water. You can use fire
to bring down the nearby Kalarab. Now you are free to leave Green Lake.

  T h e F a l l s

Back out in The Falls, you should head downwards and to the left. This will
take you in the direction of Summerfalls Village. When you reach a small pond,
dive in and collect the Melodia Idol (15). Now exit to the left.

  S u m m e r f a l l s V i l l a g e

Back out in the village, jump on the platform with Sonte's Shrine on it
(that's the bear-shaped statue). Gust off of the left hand side of it and use
the Slow Descent Wind Power to glide to the left. You should be able to reach
the Melodia Idol (16) behind the wooden gate.

Drop down and swim to the bottom of the lake in this area. Down here is
another Idol (17). Emerge from the water and head into Smith's house. Smith
will tell you that he can fix the clanger, but he needs more gold. Let's go
and get some from the villagers!

You need three pieces of gold, so you need to help out three villagers. Leave
the house and head to the left. Speak to Abe and he will show you that a
willow tree has caught fire. Gust water onto the flames to put the fire out.
The fire will spread, so douse the other trees and the nearby house. Once you
have done Abe will give you your first Gold Coin. Only two more to go.

Above Abe on the left is a fruit. Take this fruit with you as you Gust to the
next platform on the left. Move up the platforms with the fruit and you will
reach Val. She says that she will give you a coin if you gather three pieces
of fruit in her basket.

Hopefully you will have the first one as I just described. The second piece
can be found just next to the basket. This leaves one more. It is found on the
right hand side of the village, on the platform above the Melodia Statue. Take
this fruit all the way to the basket, then speak to Val, who will give you a
Gold Coin.

From Val, jump onto the higher platform on the right. Speak with the guy here,
who will tell you that he has lost his Oswald (Oswald is a bird). He will be
hiding in a willow tree, so Gust upward in front of the trees. Often, birds
are revealed that are not Oswald. The tree that he is hiding in changes from
game to game, so I can't give you an exact location. Once you have revealed
Oswald, speak with Atticus to get the final Gold Coin.

Now that you have all three Gold Coins, go back and speak to Smith. He will
fix the clanger. The map will now appear and Enril will mention that you
should go back and see Sonte. For now though, you should leave the house and
go to the left. Leave the village to the left.

  S u m m e r f a l l s

Grab the Melodia Idol (18) from the water. This was previously stuck in the
ice. You can now head back into the Village.

Go through the village to The Falls. Leave via the exit in the top right to do
this.

Go straight through The Falls to Green Lake. Remember, you do this by crossing
over the bridge on the right hand side of the area.

  G r e e n L a k e

Pass through Green Lake to reach Sonte's Cave. Watch out for the Water Glorbs.
Don't forget that you will have to take the top route now that it's summer.

  S o n t e ' s C a v e

Speak to Sonte and she will now grant you to power to change the season when
you activate one of her shrines. She will also mention that the Melodias
built a shrine dedicated to Enril in the North. This is where you need to head
before going back to Melodia City.

As soon as you enter the Ravine, swim under the water and collect the Melodia

Dive under the water and collect the Melodia Idol (20). Head to the left and
leave the water. Jump onto the platform to the right and use the torch to burn
the sapling. This will create a Seed. Carry to the Seed over to the left and
plant in it in the earth on the small platform. This will create another
Sapling.

Water the sapling using a slipstream and it will grow into a Poyak. Use the
Poyak to reach the ledge with the lever on it. Pull the lever to open a door
under the water. Go down here and collect the Melodia Idol from behind the
door (21).

Emerge from the water on the left. There are a couple of Fire Glorbs here.
Gust them into the water, before pulling the nearby lever. This will open a
door behind the waterfall above. Go back to the start of the area and use
Sonte's Shrine to make it Winter. Break the frozen waterfall with the nearby
torch and leave to the left.

Zig-zag over Toku to make an easy landing. At the bottom of the cliff is a
Melodia Idol (22). Light to torch to the left with the one to the right. Watch
out for the Scorpio here. You can burn it up with fire. Light the next torch
and use the flames to take out the Water Glorbs.

Once you have done this, use a slipstram to hit the wooden gate with flames.
Now that this is gone, move past it. Up here, go to the left. Stand on the
switch and a rock will drop from above. Take the rock over to the right hand
side of the screen, over the platforms.

You will come to a switch with an ice barrier next to it. Break the barrier
with the rock, then head through. Use the mushroom to reach the raised ledge.
Here you will see another rock behind a shut door. Use Gust to move the rock
over the top of the tall platform here.

Now that you have the rock, place it on the switch below. This is will open
the nearby door. Go through the door and use the mushroom to gain height. To
the right you will see a Beacon. Fire it up then light the torch to the left.
As soon as you are finished, your work in this section is done.

Go back down to the ground and taking the rock with you, head over to the
left. Place the rock on the switch here and use the mushroom to move upwards.
Deal with the Water Glorbs and continue to the right.

You will come to an unlit torch and the camera will pan out. You should be
able to see the torch that you lit on the other side. Use a slipstream to move
fire through the narrow gap in the wall. You will now have a torch lit on this
side of the wall.

Light the next torch and from here destroy the wooden barrier. Use the
mushroom to get up to the next level. Here you will find a Journal Page (8).
Proceed to the left and just as you come to the bridge, a Garb will appear.
The Garb is a lot of Glorbs merged together into a super-Glorb. Create a
snowball and throw it at the Garb. Repeat this until it explodes. Hitting it
on the head or from behind seems to work best.

Once the Garb (and Glorbs) are gone, head over the bridges and leave the
screen to the right.

Melodia Idol (23). Pull the nearby switch to open the door on the right. Hit
the Melodia Statue before leaving.

As soon as you enter you will see a Melodia Idol in front of you (25). Take
the nearby rock with you and hit the Melodia Statue. Break the wall using a
Vortex on the rock. Go to the right and you will see a lift. Unfortunately,
you can't use it, so summon up a Cyclone to get to the next floor.

Go to the right and use another Cyclone to get up another floor. Go to the
right and you will find a Melodia Statue and a strange door. You can't open
this yet, so save the game and head back to the left.

Gust across the gap and make your way up the see-saw contraption. Proceed to
the left and you will discover a Wind Stone. Take this back towards the
see-saw. Stay on this floor, then form a Vortex using the Stone. The Stone
will resonate with the nearby crystal and change the direction of the see-saw.
Head back down to the lower floor.

Take the ball with you and use it to smash the wall here. Along here you will
find the next Melodia Idol (26). Go back to the left and change the direction
of the see-saw again (whilst you are still stood on this floor). You are now
free to take the Wind Stone down another level.

Here you should see a breakable wall on the left. Smash the Stone into it it
break it. Just past the wall is a lit torch. Use a Slipstream to move the fire
to the unlit torch on the floor above. Now take the Wind Stone onto the upper
floor. You can now use the Stone to operate the elevators.

Stand above the see-saw and switch its direction. Use a slipstream to light
the nearby torch using the fire on the floor below. Light the next torch on
the left, then use it to burn down the wooden barrier. Past here, use the
lift to get to the next floor.

Head to the right and you will find a Journal Page (9). Behind you is a huge
Melodia head. To the right you will find a second Wind Stone. If you use both
of these one after the other, you can get the Melodia head to resonate with
them. If you raise him up enough, he will let out a resonating cry of his own.
For now, this does nothing, but remember it.

Proceed to the right once you are ready and use a Wind Stone to operate the
elevator. Use the lift that's adjacent and then leave the screen to the right.

Use a Cyclone on the water here and just send it into the air. Drop down into
the hollow and pull the lever. Now, head through the door on the right and use
a Cyclone to get up the cliff face.

Up here, eat the nearby fruit if you need health. Once it regrows, drop it
onto the switch below it. This will open the door to the right. Quickly use a
Slipstream to move the fire to the unlit torch on the right.

Stand next to the torch and you will see a wooden barrier over on the right.
Use a Slipstream to burn down the barrier, but make sure it doesn't pass into
the water. Doing this will free up a Wind Stone.

Bring the Stone over to the left and use a Cyclone to move the water from the
left-hand pool to the right-hand one. This will allow you to put the Stone on
the switch. This will open a door on the higher floor.

Slipstream the fire up to the unlit torch on this higher floor. Use a Cyclone
to get up there yourself. Head to the right and pull the lever next to the
door. This will open the door up. You may think there is no reason for this,
but you need to do it to retrieve the Wind Stone.

Swim through the water and bring the Stone back the same way. Use a Cyclone to
get back up to higher ground. Use a Slipstream from the torch to burn the
wooden barrier above. Now, use a Cyclone to get onto the next floor and don't
forget to bring the Wind Stone with you.

Head to the left and use the Wind Stone to resonate with the crystal in the
door. This will open it up. In here, use the Vortex on the Stone again and a
platform will move out of the wall. Use it to get to the higher ground.

Up here are a couple of smoking torches. Use a Gust to spark them back into
life. Pull the lever that is in between them to open a door way over to the
right. Burn down the wooden barrier using the fire from the torches. Before
you drop down here, there is a Melodia Idol on the right (30). Now go all the
way over to the right, through the door that you just opened.

Here you will land virtually on top of the next Melodia Idol (32). Head to
the left and get onto dry land. Use the fire to burn up the nearby wooden
barriers. You can also take out the nearby Water Glorbs using the torch. Get
onto the higher ledge by using a Cyclone. Up here is another wooden barrier
that's holding a Wind Stone.

Burn the barrier down and take the Stone to the left. Place it on the switch
here and you can go through the door on the left. Here you will come to
another closed door.

On the ledge above is a Glorb. Destroy it before using a Cyclone to get to the
ledge. Up here is an unlit torch and a barrier. Your goal is to get some fire
to here. Follow the platforms upwards, taking out Glorbs as you go. Soon you
will see a stone with a circle cut out of it on the left. Behind this stone is
a Melodia Idol (33).

Eventually you will reach some soft ground that can be chopped up by the
Cyclone. Drill down into this now, then drop down the resulting cliff. Follow
the path around (watch out for the Glorbs) and you will eventually come to a
switch. Stand on it to light a fire.

Use this fire to light to torch to the right. Continue lighting to torches all
the way along until you are at the bottom of the cliff. At this point you need
to go back up to the switch.

Use a Cyclone to reach a Melodia Idol (34) on the right hand wall. Now, just
to the left is some some earth. Drill through it with a Cyclone, then drop
down the gap. From here you should be able to continue lighting the torches.
Eventually you will be able to burn down the wooden barrier. Drop down the
gap.

Pull the lever here to open the door on the left. Take the rock through the
door and replace the Wind Stone with it on the switch. Leave the rock here and
take the Stone over to the left. Create a Vortex around it to open the crystal
door.

Wipe out the Glorbs behind the door, then dig through the earth with a
Cyclone. Drop down the gap and leave the screen.

Use the Melodia Statue to save the game. Cross over the wooden barrier and
move onto the ledge. On here is an patch of dirt that a seed could be planted
in. More in that in a minute.

Proceed to the left and go through the trap door here. You will soon meet a
couple of Kalarabs. Use a Vortex then smash them into the ground and dispatch
the surviving Glorbs. Continue to the right and pull the lever here. This
will close the trap door and open the regular door over on the left.

Gust up to the next ledge and use the torch to burn down the barrier. Now
that you are back on the platform with the patch of dirt, you can plant the
Seed. It can be found by Gusting upwards and to the left.

Plant the Seed and a sapling will appear. You obviously need to water this
before it will grow and this will pose a bit of a problem. For now, go through
the recently opened door on the left.

Through this door is a huge pool with a Melodia Idol in the bottom (35). You
need to produce a Cyclone so that a cloud is created. Gust the cloud over to
the right so that it rains on top of the trap door.

Once this hollow has filled up, you can use another Cyclone to create another
cloud. Move the cloud to the next hollow on the right. From here, make one
more cloud. You can now float the cloud over to the sapling and make it rain
on it. A Heli-Bud will now be produced.

Grab the Heli-Bud and Gust onto the platform on the left. From here you can
reach a higher narrow platform. Now, use a Slipstream to guide the Heli-Bud
on top of the cliff. Here you will find a Melodia Idol (36).

Now use a Slipstream to guide the Heli-Bud as far left as possible. On a ledge
here is another Idol (37). Drop from the ledge and you will see a Melodia
Statue on the right where you can save your game.

There's probably a Squawk flying around here too, so use a Vortex to take that
bad boy down. Now dig through the soft earth on the left. Drop down the abyss
and you will see a couple of Fire Glorbs. Throw them down the nearby gap and
this should be enough to take them out. Eat the fruit on the left if you need
help. Now drop down the pit and leave the area.

As soon as you enter this area, use Gust to flick the nearby lever on the
wall. This will change the direction of the see-saw over on the left. Head to
the next level by passing over the see-saw.

Up here are a couple of Fire Glorbs. Throw them into the water on the right.
Dive to the bottom of the pool and the camera will pan out. This will allow
you to use Gust on the lever below, thus changing the direction of the
see-saw. Take the nearby Wind Stone with you as you go back over the see-saw.

As you go down the second see-saw, you will notice a switch on the left.
Ignore this for now and continue on your way. Use the Wind Stone to deal with
the Fire Glorbs here.

Soon you will reach a crystal in the wall. Vortex the Wind Stone to create a
resonance and this will cause a couple of platform to briefly move out of the
wall. Gust up here and you will see another lever on the wall. Pull it and the
direction of the second see-saw will change.

Drop down and head to the right, taking the Stone with you. Here you will see
a Poyak. Get the Stone onto the higher platform before using the Poyak to
get there yourself. Go along the see-saw and put the Wind Stone on the switch.
This will open the door to the right.

Head through the door and burn the barrier with the torch. Before moving
downwards, burn the Poyak using a Slipstream. You will now have a Seed that
you can take with you.

Drop down the platforms and you will land in a pool. In the bottom is a
Melodia Idol (38). Leave the water and you will see the Garb from earlier!
Looks like he didn't die on impact. Watch out for the Glorbs that he throws
and lure him into jumping into the water. This will destroy him instantly.

Take the seed over to the left and plant it in the ground. Send a cloud over
from the water to make the sapling grow. Use the Poyak to reach the higher
floor before leaving the area.

a Melodia Idol (40).

It would have been easier for you to change the season to winter, so you
could merely walk up the frozen water to this. However, you can't use the
Jumbrella Cape in winter and you need to use it again now. Gust upwards and
use the Cape to reach a second Idol that is perched on a ledge (41).

Create a Snowball using a Vortex to smash the icicles before proceeding to the
right. You will come to more unstable ground, so dig down using the Cyclone.
Down here you will find a strange object (something that Enril will mention).

For now, smash the icicles on the left with a Snowball. Here you will find
another strange object. Pull it out of the ground and take it over to the
right. Place the two objects together and you will have just revived the
Melodia King!

Obviously this isn't the living king, but a device that he created so that
he could take revenge on Riveren. The map will now come up with a green marker
over The Palace. A clue? You bet.

Go over to the left and a tutorial will show that drawing a Vortex around the
King will make him sing. This is useful because his song is resonating, just
like a Wind Stone. Do this now and fire will burst into the lanterns overhead.

Use the fire to break the wall of ice on the left. Go through here and pull
the lever. This will open a door over on the right. Walk back to where the
lanterns are and use a Slipstream to light the torches in the other room.
Smash the ice wall here with the fire.

You will come to an elevator here. Stand on it with the King and make him
sing. This will take the lift upwards. Up here are a couple of switches.
Place the King on one (direct him with a Slipstream) then Gust down on him.
This will make him sit. Stand on the other switch yourself and the door on
the right will open.

Before leaving grab the Melodia Idol on the left (44). Don't forget to bring

lift.

Vortex the King to send the lift up. With Toku, head to the left and move onto
the higher floor. You should be right next to the King here. Get him to sit on
the switch. This will open the trap door over Toku's head (watch out for the
Fire Glorbs!).

Use a Cycline to get out of the trap door before heading to the right. Deal
with any Glorbs that you come across. Soon you will see some icicles in front
of a crystal door. Use a Snowball to break the ice.

You should now be able to see the King again. Vortex him and he will sing,
thus opening the door. Go in here and collect the Melodia Idol (45). You can

With Toku, head over to the left and hit the Sonte Statue. Yay summer. Go past
the hollow and you will see a pool of water. Use a Cyclone, create a cloud,
Gust it over to the left and make it rain in the hollow. You will need to do
this twice to fill the hollow up as much as possible. Now, go over to the left
and make it winter again.

You can now walk over the ice and you will reach an icy wall. Make the King
sit, then return to the Sonte Statue for a final time. It should now be
summer. Return to the King and have him sing his song. This will unlock the
door to the right.

Whilst defending yourself, use a Vortex on the King and he will sing. This
will cause the Melodia effegy to raise it's head and open it's eyes. Defend
the King for long enough and the effegy will let out a resonating song of it's
own. This will scare Riveren away and will leave you free to head out to the
right.

Use the King to activate the first elevator. You'll have to use the Wind Stone
to activate the second. Once this is done, leave the area.

If you look on your map, you will see that Toku is missing. Obviously Inside
The Palace doesn't register as an area. Anyway, you can save the game using
the Melodia Statue on the right. Walk forward and use the elevator.

As soon as the elevator reaches the top, you will see Riveren appear.
Throughout the entire final battle, Riveren will be pelting you with Glorbs,
so you need to be constantly on the defensive. All you need to do is Gust
them away (recommended) or avoid them (not recommended). If you avoid them,
they will soon build up and cause you hassle.

At first though, the Glorbs have a more specific purpose. See the thin walls
on either side of the area? You need to Vortex a Glorb and smash it through
each one.

Once this has been done, you can use a Cyclone to get Toku onto the higher
level. Go and stand on the switch and this will open the door below. Direct
the King onto the switch down here and this will open the door next to Toku.
During this sequence don't forget that Riveren will still be on the attack.

As soon as you have the chance, go through the door. To the right you will see
a lit torch. Use it to light the torch that is nearst to Toku. You can now
burn down the wooden barrier above.

Use the Cyclone to get onto the floor above and here you will find a Melodia
Idol (47). Now, drop back down to where the King is. Use the fire to burn
down the barrier. Head into this room and Riveren will follow you.

Use a Vortex on the King so that he will raise the Melodia head behind. You
need to defend him from Riveren's attacks whilst he does this. Once the head
has been raised, it will let out the same resonating cry as before. This will
scare Riveren away.

Leave the room and Riveren will steal the head of the King! Go up to where you
found the Melodia Idol. Gust across to the left and you will find the head.
Grab it and take it back to the body. Once the King is complete again, have
him stand on the switch to the left.

Take Toku to the platform above and stand on the switch here. Watch out for
Rivern's attacks and direct the King back into the main area. Head over to
the left and use a Glorb to break the thin wall here.

Do the same as before, use a Cyclone to get Toku onto the higher floor. Stand
on the switch here, then use a Slipstream to burn down the wooden barrier
here.

Just to the left is a fruit. Use it to weigh down the same switch that you
just stood on. Quickly drop down to the left and stand on the switch here.
The way should now be clear for you to bring the King to Toku. With the King
here, burn the barrier on the left. You will now be in another area with the
huge Melodia head.

Vortex the King and he will raise the head. Protect him from Riveren long
enough for the head to let out it's cry. Riveren will be scared off again.
Stand on the switches to open the doors so that you can send the King back
into the main area again. Before following him out, climb as many platforms as
you can and you will find the final Melodia Idol (48). You can now drop back
down into the main area.

You will now enter the final phase of the battle. This can be a little
difficult to work out. Basically, Riveren will throw a Glorb at you. However,
this is a "Super Glorb" that will take a couple of seconds to charge.

When he throws it, you need to run away. You need to do this so that the Glorb
is still travelling through the air after Riveren has vanished and reappeared.
Once he reappears, Gust the Glorb back at him.

This won't work if the Glorb touches the ground (so it no longer charged) or
if you don't hit Riveren in the head. If you hit his body, nothing will
happen.

After a couple of hits, Riveren will fall to the ground. Run over to him and
pull off his mask. This will end the battle and the game!

These are like regular Glorbs, except they are bright red and often have
flames on their surface. You cannot harm them with fire. However, water works
well against them, as does the Cold Chill wind power.

  G a r b

The Garb is something of a mini-boss throughout the game. Though you have no
real need to "fight" him, there are numerous meetings where Toku gets the
better of the Garb. Essentially the Garb is a huge mass of much smaller
Glorbs. Often the Garb will throw a Glorb at you or if you are close enough
will try to "vomit" on you.

The Garb is finally defeated by jumping into a pool of water.

  G l o r b

The most common enemy in the game. These guys will try to attach themselves to
Toku and suck his health. They often appear in small groups which is usually
when they are at their most dangerous. Enemies such as the Kalarab and Squawk
will reveal themselves to be Glorbs after they have initally been defeated.

They can be defeated in a variety of ways. Water and fire work, as does
Gusting them into walls at pace. Wind Stones and other objects will also wipe
them out.

  K a l a r a b

These guys look like small, rocky crabs. Use a Vortex to suspend it in the air
before smashing it into a wall or the floor. This will be enough to change it
back into a Glorb.

  R i v e r e n

The main force of evil in the second LostWinds game. He is a minion of
Balasar, who seems have been causing mischief around Summerfalls for a long
time. For more on how to defeat him, check the walkthrough.

  S c o r p i o

The Scorpio hides in the ground with just it's teeth protruding. If you move
too close, it will grab Toku and take away some health. The best way to take
down a Scorpio is with fire.

  S q u a w k

These guys look like green birds, but they are actually flying Glorbs. Gusting
them down onto the ground is usually enough to make them revert to their
Glorb form. If you get too close, they will divebomb Toku to cause damage.

  W a t e r G l o r b s

These take the opposite form to Fire Glorbs. They have a bluish watery
covering. This means they flourish in water, so attacking with that would be
fruitless. Try to use fire to burn away the covering. This will turn the
Water Glorb into a normal Glorb. You can now take it out however you see fit.
