We are renting super mario galaxy 2. My son has reached a level of progress that he wouldn't want to have to re-do if we ever bought the game or rented it again. Does the Wii console retain the game information and progress files, or is there a way to do that? What I'm wondering is, if we play a physically different disk of the same game, will our info be there?] Thanks so much!!!

Good news! It saves on wii and not the disc! For example, if you got 54 stars on one file, 69 stars on another, and 42 stars on the last one, and then your disc broke, if you buy another disc you will have the same old star counts of 54,69, and 42! Hope I helped X:D
