I Bought skylanders spyro for my 5yr old he now wants giants do I need to buy giants starter pack??....thanks!

When you buy skylanders giants get the one that has the figurines in it. Getting them together will be less than getting them apart. After you get it there are certain spots that can only be accesed by certain types of skylanders and some of those types are not included. All of the areas are not nessesary to finish the game but it can be fun. If your son wants more figures than you will have to buy them though. Good news is all spyros figurines work in giants.
You can also buy the portal owners pack cost 60$
