I'll make this as detailed as I can -- I searched for a good hour on here, looking for an answer, and couldn't find it because people don't EXPLAIN.
In the area behind the waterfall, where you find Magikarp, it looks like a dead end. There's the fence around the water's edge, and then the water, and if you walk straight into that area, you'll see a wall. Go all the way against the wall, and turn to the left, and press B so you can see from Pikachu's POV. There's a little cove in that wall, and if you follow that all the way down, you'll see 3 crates. The outer two have berries, and the one in the middle has Shroomish. To be his friend, he'll want you to play Chase.
