Why do some pokemon sparkle?

I have certain Pokemon on my ranch (some are not legendaries) that sparkle. Does any one know why?

If the Pokemon are sparkling, it means that it is a shiny Pokemon. Someone showed me this with his Infernape, and it looked like the shiny version. So the final verdict, they're shiny. Hope this helps you out.

Yeah, what ChrisMaclean said. I am the one that showed him the Infernape. I have a lot of shiny Pokemon that sparkle. Thats what it means. Hope I Helped!

what game is it on now? if it stopped sparkling after 24 hours, it means it has poke virus, which makes your Pokemon level up faster, and it's rarer than shines to get the poke virus. If it is a ribbon in the sparkle, it means it starred in something like a pokemon contest
Guest answered:

The Pokemon that sparkle are NOT shiny. If they were shiny, the shiny form will appear. I have a shiny Floatzel and Wooper, both in their shiny forms (aka alternate coloring) on Ranch, but don't sparkle. However, a normal Ponyta on my Ranch does sparkle.

pruzel answered:

THEY SPARKLE CAUSE THEY WHERE TRADED!!! They where traded by Haley or a friend so they sparkle.

P.S. I put my shiny absol on and it was a normal absol again then off shiny on non-shiny! AND IT DIDN'T SPARKLE cause I caught it on that game.
