How can 10k Miis be accumulated in the Mii Parade?

After recently learning about the Mii Cash Shop I want to unlock it. I'm halfway to accumulating 100 Miis in the plaza so no issue there but how can 10k be accumulated in the parade in a non time consuming way now that the 'Check Mii Out' channel appears to have been terminated?

I have the travel option turned on but am not receiving any travelers.
I currently have 20 from sending Miis from my plaza I no longer care about and duplicating others but that's reached it limit.
