I need help with the half pipes. No matter what I do I cannot gain sufficent height to get to the ledges or railings I have to reach. Please help what can I do to make the ball go higher.

You need the Boost Ball power-up. This can be found in Phendrana Canyon in the Phendrana region. If you already have the Boost Ball, then release B right when you start to go up the opposite side and hold it as you go up. Repeat until you are as high as necessary.
