Well to achieve your star rank, you must follow, what can be described as a point system. This point system takes points off for things such as hitting walls, and driving off edges, but gives you points for winning races. Unfortunately you cannot see this as the grand prix goes on, but to get your star rank you will have too try and stay in front for as long as possible, win, and try hit as small amount of walls as possible. This could take some several attempts, but keep trying and I'm sure you'll get it. Hope I helped. Goal machine.
