Does anyone know how to do the old fashioned battle mode (the best kind) without CPU intervention. It's fun for a little bit with teams...or lots of poeple...but I have two Wii wheels and really just want to battle the person sitting next to me...the old balloon style...1 on 1...mano e mano!!
Or 1 on 1 on 1 (3 player...or 4 player?)
I don't have any registered friends in the WFC part...can you create a room without friends and only play the "guest" or other person connected on your machine(they don't have their own license)?
Finding this extremely frustrating!! Battle mode is the best part!!
Comment:(Jan 24 2009) OKAY...I actually got intouch with someone from Nintendo who told me there is a "rules" tab on the multiplayer menus. Can select all sorts of stuff on there...like no CPU players, or make them hard, easy, medium, what cc to use for karts, which courses to play or random, what kind of titems will show up, etc.
THANK GOD...NOW MARIO KART WII IS THE BEST GAME EVER!!

There is a way to play the old 1 on 1 style. When you are picking coin runners or baloon battle at the top right hand corner or around there you should see the rules tab. If you don't see it just go up from coin runners.
My bad you go up from baloon battle not coin runners I couldn't remember which one was on top
If you have Ct and Ctww then you can play in old style and slow style on 1on1
