does not work for me (PC)

The situation might have its origins in your Windows Device Manager, which is
usually accessible in the Windows Control Panel and via the System Icon.

Please check for controllers in here; it is possible that you have more than one
instance of the same controller - or controllers - in here, so normally in Windows,
one can remove all game controllers in here, shut down the PC and plug in the main
controller into a USB socket (preferably one at the back of the case as USB sockets
here are generally incorporated into the Motherboard) and restart the PC, then
launch LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga

And just like that Ta the, The computer now just sees one controller(since it's diabled in control panel) and single player is "unlocked"
Hope this helps someone, it's 2017 now, five years too late, better late then never right.
