When the mayor leaves he gives you everything to use. If you use your direction pad left is where your inventory is. Go through there on the tools section to the third page to the mayors schedule planner. That will change the seasons for you.

You need to upgrade the buildings don't play the game on the 10th day of you will be stuck in fall. Play the games hosted by the other characters collect coins and wood upgrade buildings then menu will show you the diary and let you advance to the next season
