I play through the beginning tutorial, finally have control of my own farm, and when I try to till the soil nothing happens except my stamina being used up. I can use the hoe in one spot till I am dizzy and it will still not be tilled. Am I missing something, or is my game messed up? I have deleted and restarted my game twice and it still does the same thing.

Make sure you are attempting to use the hoe in the patch of land that looks different form the rest and likely has weeds and a few saplings. Not all land in this game can be tilled, only specific areas, so if you attempt to use the hoe on land that is not part of the farmable land, which should have a noticeable outline, nothing will happen.
