Once you reach a certain level, you unlock the "Mini-Mine", which produces diamonds. You can also play the memory game once you have four monsters at the castle, which is free once a day, and can earn you an additional 1-2 diamonds.
As for gold, you really just have to just be patient.
Where can you really get free diamonds? All the cheat pages are fraudulent. This is all a scam to get you to register with marketing companies. The codes do not work even if people say they do. The below or above comments are fakes (made by marketers).
In some cases it helps novices to play better and enjoy certain part of the game. Remember that some people can buy gems which in fact comes to the same as getting them for free.
