Introduction

You make your way to the game on a treasure map-themed menu. The start menu navigation can be a little tricky to navigate at times, however.

The game starts you off on the boat of Elena Fisher, a TV show hostess, off the coast of Panama. You play as Nathan Drake, an explorer and... A tomb raider, I suppose, who has just discovered a journal left behind by the English explorer, Sir Francis Drake. The journal basically guides you through any puzzle that you encounter during the game.

Graphics

The visuals are stunning in everyway. Smooth character models, sharp textures, a very consistent framerate, beautiful environments and bright colors. The water ripples just like it would in real life. At times, strong light will make the colors look a little unnatural, but that hardly affects the experience, if at all.

Sound

The voice acting is very good in both cinematics and gameplay. Other characters will yell things to you to help find passages and ladders. While the voice acting is good, the music is spectacular. It's nice a subtle, but it always fits the mood and the pace of the part you are playing. This is what music should be in a video game.

Gameplay

The gameplay reminded me of Gears of War, but with more stealth involved. You need to sneak around and/or duck and roll for cover as you make your way to the next destination. Definitely appropriate for a treasure hunting title like this. It was very exciting to play this game.

Lastability

There are 61 treasures to find throughout the whole story mode, and you will definitely need to go back at least once to find them all. There are also four different difficulties to play on, different costumes to earn, behind the scenes footage to unlock, and things that affect gameplay like Slow Motion. It will take you a long time to do all of this.

Overall

I will use one word to describe this game - brilliant. Graphics, story, sound effects, voice acting, music, gameplay and lasting appeal are all wonderfully put together and truly deliver a thrilling and intense experience for anyone thirteen and older. I had a blast playing this game, and I think most people will. Pick this title up.

Final Score: 90%
